Liked him and the First World War entertainment troupe bit. The Irish part was more garbled. Can anyone find Delia Farrell in Canada?

Technical Help / Printer doesn't like ink cartridge
« on: Friday 13 January 17 15:28 GMT (UK)  »
My Epson printer tells me my Epson ink cartridge which I installed only recently is incompatible and I need to install a new one.  This is very annoying as I paid good money for the real thing. Maybe the printer is getting old but I have noticed that ink doesn't last very long.
Any ideas? I have tried taking the cartridge in question out and reinstalling it.
Thanks

Occupation Interests / Town bailiff
« on: Wednesday 09 November 16 16:10 GMT (UK)  »
I know there have been several threads already on this topic but I haven't found information about a town bailiff during the 1650s. I have just found out that an ancestor had this role. How would he have become a bailiff and what were the responsibilities of the role? I assume he would have been a man of property?
I'm sure there are Rootschat people who can help, so thank you in advance for any information.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Old photograph - is it a hotel? Where is it?
« on: Saturday 03 September 16 15:14 BST (UK)  »
This mystery photo in my family photograph collection shows a building which seems to be a hotel.
The delivery dray on the left has the name Rider Wilson's Table Waters Ltd on it. This was apparently a Sheffield firm.
Is it a hotel? Can anyone place it?
Thanks

The Lighter Side / Rowland in Shropshire
« on: Thursday 17 March 16 21:27 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I've been watching TheSecret History of My Family on BBC this evening and it has brought up a subject that I've thought about before:

I found in my family and others from Shropshire (but not anywhere else in the country) there a lot of boys called Rowland. I mean 19th century mostly.
Rowland Hill of postal service fame is one of them.
Any ideas why? Was there a famous Rowland who started a trend?
