The Common Room / Can anyone help find inquest in newspaper?
« on: Sunday 27 August 23 18:10 BST (UK)  »
Hi all ever since I received my ancestors death certificate several years ago that stated there was in inquest into her death that concluded a verdict of 'misadventure' I have been searching for the report of the inquest in the newspapers to no luck, and wondered if anyone else might have some luck finding it for me? (fresh eyes etc) I have a subscription to british newspaper archives so if found I can look it up there just struggling to find it.

Details:
Her name was Elizabeth Webb she died 9th Oct 1934 in Kingston Upon Thames, lived at 22 Hudson Road Kingston. The death certificate states cause of death as syncope + shock during administration of chloroform (2 parts) + ether (3 parts) for operation for acute intestinal obstruction. p.m misadventure

Thank you in advance

Berkshire Lookup Requests / Can anyone help? John Webb and Sarah Burton
« on: Thursday 24 August 17 09:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me locate what happened next to 2 of my ancestors?

John Webb was born approx 1791 I believe in Reading Berkshire but have no trace of him I believe he must have died before official records began but can't find him and am not near Berkshire to search their family record center

I found a record showing he married Sarah Burton 29 May 1819 but no other details

I have found they had 4 children (that I know off) : James (my link) b.1821, Ann b.1826, Caroline b. 1828, Mary b. 1832

Sarah I have found on the 1841 census and I have a death index for her showing she died 1st quarter 1847 (or possibly late 1846) I will be ordering that soon but I would like if possibly to find where she was buried

If anyone can help I would be very grateful I hope to come to Reading myself at soon point but no idea when I will be able to do that

The Common Room / Help with ancestry
« on: Sunday 23 July 17 19:25 BST (UK)  »
Hi I had a problem with my tree but I couldn't work out where I had gone wrong so decided to set up a mirror tree and build it up again and hopefully work out where I went wrong

All was going well but after I added my father's mother it came up that her connection to me was step-grandmother and I cannot understand why, I've doubled checked everything and all is as it should be (she's down as my father's mother etc) but no idea what I've done any help would be very appreciated

Kerry / Can anyone with a brick wall regarding my grandmothers line?
« on: Wednesday 28 June 17 16:41 BST (UK)  »
Just wondered if anyone can help me open some doors on my grandmothers side

She died when my dad was a boy so information about her has been very little, she was known and was married to grandad John Joseph Treacy as Mary Bridget Clifford they were married 19th Dec 1959 in Kingston Upon Thames Surrey England where she also died in 1974

She was born 24 Oct 1928 in Tralee Ireland but so far I am struggling to find her birth record, family members have said she was born Maureen but still having no luck finding a birth record

I know from her marriage record her father was John Joseph Clifford and have potential burial record for him in Tralee Ireland in 1954 but no other info

A friend of mine her mum is my dads cousin as her dad is Mary's brother and through following him and some of the other siblings we have some info on Mary's mother but she appears on some records as Ellen and others as Helen and we have a potential burial record as Helen Clifford in Tralee in 1983

I am at a lost as to where to go next and wondered if anyone could help me

Thank you

Hi all this site has already been fantastic and helped me break down some brick walls which have stumped me for months and I was wondering if anyone could help me again

My Irish ancestry has been so incredibly hard to crack, finally thought I was making head way but now I've come stuck again and was just wondering if anyone could advise me as to what to try next to try and get my research going again? Thank you

My great-grandfather was Dennis Treacy born 1st February 1897 in Tyrrells pass Mullingar Westmeath (according to his birth record, his father was Martin Treacy and his mother was Catherine McCormack

I have found the family on the 1901 and 1911 Irish census but nothing before that, I believe I'm right in believing that there no surviving census records before that until 1851, Martin is 50 on the 1901 census so possible he could just had been born around the 1851 ones but with no info on parents I don't know what I'm looking for

If anyone could point in the direction on the best place to look for info which could get me progressing that would be great

Thank you

Scotland / Not sure where to start can someone help?
« on: Friday 30 December 16 18:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all I discovered a branch of my family tree was Scottish and thanks to Scotlands people my research is coming along nicely.

Then when doing some research on a Irish branch of my family which I was already struggling with, I was told that my great grandmother died whilst staying over here in England, which made it alot easier for me to find her death certificate and the first information about her I had come across except for her name.

I was shocked that she wasn't born in Ireland like I had expected but she was born in Scotland but I am struggling to find any further information on her or her family to take my research any further and wondered if anyone could help?

Her name was Margaret Callaghan (or O'Callaghan according to my grandfathers baptism record)
She married my great grandfather Denis Tracey/Treacy (spelling differs)
According to her death certificate she was born 1st December 1900 in Scotland
She died 13th July 1983 in Wandsworth

The Common Room / Is there a way to find where my ancestor was buried?
« on: Friday 30 December 16 12:53 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all, I have been following leads on 3x great grandfather William Loft, a few months ago I received his birth certificate which showed he was born in Holborn in 1853, but at some point he moved and set up home with his wife Emma (Maiden name Maysh) in Kingston Upon Thames, every census after their marriage in 1873 has them here in Kingston. Kingston have their burial records for their cemeteries on the council website but I had been unable to find him (or Emma either). I had thought that maybe they had left the area or something but today I received William's death certificate which states him as still living in Kingston and that he died here in 1925. I just wondered as I cannot find him on Kingston's burial records is there another way to possibly find out where he was buried and possibly Emma too?
Thanks

The Common Room / Trying to decipher who the informant is on a death certificate?
« on: Friday 23 December 16 13:47 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all not sure where I'm going with this or if anyone one is able to help but thought I'd try, as I'm struggling to work out who the informant on my ggg grandmother's death certificate is

She died from a cerebral hemorrhage after being in a coma for 3 days and 12 hours (according to the certificate) in 1908, and the informant is listed as V. Tanner (thats what I read it as anyways) and states she is sister

But i'm struggling to find a sister for my ggg grandmother beginning with V (only sisters I've found are named Mary-Ann and Fanny), my husband suggested she could be a ward sister or a nun but not sure how to find out?

My ancestor name was Jane Webb (maiden name Martin) born 1850 and died 1908 (both in Kingston upon Thames and her husband was George Webb who was still alive at her death

Any insight would be greatly appreciated
