Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Royal Irish Constabulary lookup help
« on: Wednesday 06 April 16 19:25 BST (UK)  »
Hello

I was wondering if anyone has the Jim Herlihy book 'Royal Irish Constabulary: a complete alphabetical list of officers and men'.

I would love to know more about my great-great-great grandfather Thomas Daly, who I believe enlisted for the Constabulary in the late 1860's.

If anyone could possibly look him up to find his no. I would be very grateful.

Roscommon / Daly's of Roscommon

Hello

I've reached a bit of a dead end researching my family in County Roscommon. My great-great-great grandfather was Thomas Daly, who was born c.1847 in Co. Roscommon. His father was recorded as Duminick Daly on his marriage certificate, but I presume this is a misspelling of Dominick. In the late 1860's he enlisted in the Royal Irish Constabulary, and was posted to Co. Armagh. There in 1869 he married Bridget Murphy in the R.C. chapel in Cullyhanna. They left for England soon after, giving birth to their first son John Thomas Daly on the road in Barronstown, Co. Louth. They had settled in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire by 1871.

If anyone has any information/is researching the same family, I would be hugely grateful if you got in touch.

L. Daly

Hello

I would be really grateful if someone could help me decipher this name of the groom's father. To me it looks like it says Duminih Daly or Duminick Daly, but I really can't make it out, and these don't seem like names that can be found anywhere else.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
