Hi,
A relative and I are trying to decipher this. We believe it is a death notice for a relation in Germany. I had some help translating this from a friend who speaks and reads German. It appears to be a death notice for Wilhelm Diedrich. There are a few things that were unclear to us. #1.  It seems to say that Auguste Diedrich is both Wilhelm's daughter in law and daughter? #2. Could Schur be her maiden name: Geb. Schur; born Schur? #3. Why would her date of birth be in a death notice for someone else? #4. During what time period were death notices like these written? There wasn't a date written anywhere on the notice that I could see.

This is the translation we came up with:
This morning, about 9, deceased after long, painful, suffering, my rather good man and father, Wilhelm Diedrich in his 44th year. All those participating with deep mourning along with Auguste Diedrich, born daughter in law and daughter. The burial will be found on Friday, the 3rd of July, afternoon, held about 3.

My name is Judy. I am new to Rootschat. I have been working on my family history since last June. I was lucky enough to know my great grandmother. She was born in Germany on August 14, 1875. She immigrated to the United States in 1892. Her name was Emma Wunsche (with an umlaut over the u, for some reason I can't make them with the alt key codes). Anyway, Emma had at least 1 brother and 3 other sisters who also came to America. She had another, younger sister, born sometime after 1881 or so, who stayed in Germany and was a Lutheran Deaconess. They were from the Stuttgart area. Their father's name was Wilhelm Wunsche. Their mom's first name was Bertha. My problem is that I have 4 different spellings of their mother's maiden name. I was wondering if anyone could tell me which one might be the correct or closest to the correct spelling of the name. The spellings are from New York marriage records for 4 of the 5 siblings. These are the spellings: Bertha Shwerdaer, Bertha Schwerdtner, Bertha Schwerdrer, and Bertha Slwertua. If anyone has any suggestions as to what the correct name might be, I would really appreciate hearing from you. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my message.

PS  I have included a photo from 1909 when my grandmother and her brother visited Germany with their mother. My grandmother is on the left, next to her is Leisle, the Deaconess, behind Leisle is my great grandmother, Emma and next to Leisle is their mother Bertha, the woman whose maiden name is in question and Wilhelm, her husband. My great uncle is next to him. I am not sure which sister is standing behind Wilhelm.
