Attempting to find an Anderson family .  tree which come from Hugh Anderson of the Georgia Colony and  Births in Scotland. This man had three sons William Hugh and Alexander. Have Alexanders line completed, back to 1530 Scotland , decendants England  and Australia with family at times living in Guernsey Islands and Jamaica.
Hugh and Wife Elizabeth arrived in Georgia 1737 . Hugh was a writter in Edinburgh prior to going to America. I believe this Anderson family moved to Charlston Carolina.

Scotland / Where is Umbridge Castle
« on: Tuesday 13 February 18 01:55 GMT (UK)  »
Have a reference in Fasti Ecclesiae[ book on Scottish ministers] of Hugh Anderson of Umbridge Castle. There does not appear to be a castle in Scotland of this name. Have checked records from Scotland the original transcript says of Umbridge Castle. The article is dated 1751.Hugh was born
c1704 in Morayshire but may have moved possibly Edinburgh. Could this be the name of an Estate or .
House. I have searched myself for 12months

Does anyone have a suggestion as to this place would be geatful Ellecat

Renfrewshire / Help required information on Hugh Anderson of Neilston a writer
« on: Wednesday 08 March 17 05:44 GMT (UK)  »
Would be happy to  get any information on Hugh Anderson he died in 1751. I estimate his birth 1695 . So I think  he was in Neilston in c 1730 working as a writer.
I have little information on Hugh Anderson. I have not been able to find his birth or death or records.
Hugh Anderson his father was Alexander Anderson , his mother was Elizabeth Trent the family were in Mooray. I think that Hugh was most likely born Mooray 1695 through 1710.

Heraldry Crests and Coats of Arms / Crest and Ministers
« on: Friday 21 October 16 01:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi could  any body tell me in scottish heraldry, if a person has a crest on family silverware that has passed through generations of the family is it likely that they have a shield and therefore a coat of arms. I do realize that many arms are unofficial as they have not been recorded with the Lord Lyon Court.
My earliest ancestor was a minister of the presbetarian church his birth1598 in Northern Scotland.
Was it possible that a  clergymen had a coat of arms. Trying to establish which ancestor first had the crest. As I have three generations of ministers in the family, the answer to  this would help.
