London and Middlesex / William Cassidy St(a)inton
« on: Saturday 03 September 16 09:52 BST (UK)  »
Lloyd's Weekly, a London newspaper, carried a report on 16 July 1848 about William Cassidy Stainton, who, together with John Fowler, was fined five shillings for being drunk at the entrance to the Adelphi Theatre in London's West End.  They demanded admission to the pit, but were refused because drunk.  Stainton said that he had been very ill and was "rather influenced" by what he drank.

"Stainton" may have been the William Cassidy or Stinton who was baptised on 14 November 1806 at Downpatrick, Co. Down, Ireland, son of William Stinton and Catherine Cassidy.

Can anyone add any information about his life before or after the 1848 drinking incident?  I haven't been able to identify him on any of the censuses.
