I was told my 2nd great uncle, William Hill (b. 1880, Milngavie, Scotland, married 1907, Ann Stanton) served in WW1 and died Oct. 12, 1918 in France.  I cannot find his name anywhere.  Any thoughts.

Scotland / McKeans of Glencoe
« on: Saturday 13 May 17 22:01 BST (UK)  »
Just got back from a visit to Glencoe and saw where the McKeans were part of the massacre.  My McKean (McKen) line stops with Thomas (b. 1766) in Larbert, Stirling.  I was wondering if any McKeans survived and if this was a way of connecting the two?

Scotland / McKean/McKen
« on: Tuesday 24 January 17 01:14 GMT (UK)  »
Can someone help here?  My name is David McKean (half the family pronounces it as Mc Keen and the other hald say Mc Ian.  My question is the most recent generations use the McKean spelling but previous generations used the McKen spelling.  Does this give a hint as to where even earlier generations came from?  Is there a real difference between the 2 spellings?  Thank you!

This is my grandfather Duncan Rankin McKean born 1875 in Milngavie, Scotland, raised in Glasgow.  He left in approx 1889-90 at age 16.  This is the only photo he carried with him.  Anyone have any idea what he might be wearing?  Is it military?  Fraternal?
Thanks,
Dave
