Dear Helper,
Please could you find this baptism for Mary Ann McKay which might have been in an independent chapel? I Maldon. father George Mc Kay and mother Elizabeth ......

This lady came to  Australia and was Married in Hobart c 1830 -40 to a James Smith born Paramatta, NSW  who had a relative William Smith in Victoria who paid for the burial plot of Mary Ann Smith. At the time of her death she was the owner of a Licenced Victualler in Keilor Victoria, and many of their connections also owned pubs.

I believe ? Mary Ann McKay was a relative of my gt gt grandfather William Richmond b 1828 Maldon Essex Master Mariner  whose father was Henry Harridance of Maldon Essex b 1794 corn merchant,  Alderman etc etc . As they died young in a cholera epidemic and are buried in the one plot.

Any help would be most appreciated.
Thank you very much ..ER

Dear Helper,
I am unable to  find a marriage of Henry  CROSSLEY  to Alice unkown in  the  parish they lived..after marriage. [ Glossop].

The reason i am posting here is that in 1881 Census  :
Henry Crossley's s wife Alice was born Holmfirth, Yorkshire, c 1846.

[Henry was born 1843 Glossop. He was an overseer of cotton weavers. in 1881.]

However it seems from census records that this couple lived a long time in Glossop , Derbyshire.

But  I dont think  they would marry in another county? as below?

There is a record of a marriage of a Henry Crossley to one Alice PATEFIELD in Lancashire 1863 at a registry office.. [most unlikley] our Henry.
Another marriage of Henry Crossley in Lancashire to Alice Wardle, at Elton, All Saints ,   Bury, Lancashire 1869

All i know for sure is the childrens  names,  in 1881
Mary 12,
Ruth 10 ,
Humphrey  8,
George 6 ,
 Ann 4,
David H aged 1 year.

------- from the children's names i guess  Henrys' parents were [from census records ]  Humphrey  Crossly and Ruth Gill at Glossop.

I cant afford to just buy the  many GRO records of Henry Crossleys marriages to find an Alice spouse, so  ask for your opinion and assistance

Many thanks

Dear Helpers,
I saw  the Shaw parish records of  a May 22, 1837, marriage of James GOLTHORP  saddler to Mary Ann CHEETHAM. [ saw the original Banns film but no parents]

But there are no parent's names...  at http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/

I know from  help on this site that this couple baptised a son Tom in 1848  at Shaw Chapel, so I wonder if someone  can find  in the  them living in this area with more children and a place of birth for James GOLDTHORPe, - family legend ? is they were from Glossop .

So the 1851 census might be most usefull, thank you if you can find this couple and a few children.. it would be much appreciated...

Thank you

Please could you give me your opinion of the  accuracy  of this information said to be from FamilySearch?

I suspect the father is actually "unknown" or being hidden?

Were both parents supposed to be present at baptism?
