Fathers profession for Johanna

Was wondering if anyone would be able to help.
Thanks

Family History Beginners Board / Odd census record
« on: Saturday 25 March 17 11:52 GMT (UK)  »
After being fairly sure that I had confirmed that my 3 x great grandparents were William Treagus (1805) and Hannah Chandler (1810) I have just found an 1851 census record which throws everything into doubt.
First let me explan how I got there. My greath grandmother was Hannah Helen Treagus born 1882. I have copy of her marriage certficate, 1909, to Walter Enos Fletcher which shows her father as George Treagus (deceased).
With this information I found the 1891 census showing Hannah and her father George. The family were living in West Dean. Hannahs mother is shown as Harriett.

Household Members
George Treagus 54
Harriett Treagus 43
William Treagus 19
Robert Treagus 17
Charlotte Treagus 15
Thomas Treagus 13
Mary A Treagus 11
Hannah H Treagus 9
Lillie R Treagus 5

Using this family information I found them in 1881 as well.

I looked at the GRO index and could see the maiden name for Harriet was Warrington. So I found the marriage (hopefully the right one) between Geeorge Treagus and Harriette Warrington in 1870. This shows Georges father as William Treagus.

So using previous information from Georges cenus records, date and place of birth, I found and 1861 census which him (?) and father William.

Household Members
William Treagus  55
George Treagus  25
Anne Treagus  24
Emily Treagus  17
Esther Treagus  16
Fanny Treagus  11
Phoebe Treagus  8
William Treagus  4
Edward Treagus  4

and the 1841 census record
Household Members:
William Treagus  35
Hannah Treagus  30
Ambrose Treagus  7
George Treagus  6
Ann Treagus  5
Susan Treagus  4
John Treagus  2

Now I have found this census for 1851 (Civil parish - West Dean ) which seems to match Geeorge and what I beleived to be his siblings but the parents age are way too high!!. Would a mistake with the age happen on a cenus in 1851 to this extent. Or is this another family.? Getting very confused.

Am worried that I have given William and Hannah too many children by combining the census records for lots of different people!

Household Members
William Treagus 66
Hannah Treagus 64
Ambros Treagus 17
George Treagus 16
Ann Treagus 15
Susan Treagus 14
John Treagus 12
Lizzy Treagus 9
Emily Treagus 7
Esther Treagus 5
Martha Treagus 3
Francis Treagus 1

Finally one other thing that is bothering me. I thought that I had found the marriage between William and Hannah in 1833, and Hannah maiden name was Chandler. But when I am searching the GRO indexes for any other their children I cannot find birth records.

Family History Beginners Board / Fletchers....
« on: Saturday 11 March 17 12:46 GMT (UK)  »
I am having a little trouble know if I am following the right "Fletcher" line and was wondering if anyone would be able to help.

My great grandfather was Walter Enos Fletcher (1184-1930). I have his marriage certificate which shows his father as John Fletcher - occupation Fish Hawker, not sure what that is. Using his dob and fathers name I was able to find the census records showed his place of birth as the Ilse of Wight. The 1891 and 1901 records show his father, John Fletcher as being born in Cheriton, Hampshire in about 1841 with a wife of Sarah Jane but the occupations are different.

This is my first red flag as to wether I am going along the right path.

All the census records I can see which seem to match John and Sarah Jane do not show that they ever lived in the Ilse of Wight though! which again I think might be a bit of an anomaly what with Walter Enos being born there! I am trying to track down Walters birth cert but not having much luck at the moment.

Using the information on the 1901, which showed a number of other children, I then used this to match census information with the same family members for John Fletcher back to 1871. I cannot find the census for 1861 or any record of a marriage to Sarah Jane or Sarah.

My research led me to believe that Johns parents where Thomas Fletcher and Priscilla ??? but before I take it any further I was hoping to make sure that I was going along the right path. Perhaps where I can find more information to corroborate what I have found.

I did think that Priscilla was Priscilla Whatley but the only marriage I can find to here is to a Thomas Futcher. There is a Thomas Futhcher listed as being born in Cheriton so perhaps it is not here either.

Any help or pointers on where to go would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Waterford / My great grandparents - Johanna Blanche and John Davis
« on: Monday 24 October 16 21:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I am struggling to find out any further information regarding my great grandparents. I know that John Davis was born about 1891 and Johanna Blanche about 1887 as I have visited their grave. That is how I know Johannas maiden name as they are buried with her unmarried sister Mary. My nan, their daughter, always said that they were from Waterford but apart from that I don't really have any more information. My nans brother, William Nicholas Davis,  was born in Waterford in 1913 I believe.  My nan, Mary Margaret Davis, was born in Bristol in 1919. Her sister, Johanna Davis was born about 1915 but I do not know where. So I am unsure as to exactly when the family moved form Ireland to Bristol, England or why.
Any help would be appreciated regarding the best place to look for information regarding my great grandparents.
Thanks

Family History Beginners Board / Newbie here
« on: Sunday 28 August 16 14:15 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

I am new to this forum so would appreciate a bit of advise.

The names that I am interested in are Giles (wick near pershore), Dezell (Bristol), Treagus (Sussex), Flecther (Sussex/Hampshire).

At the moment all of my research has been using online records but I know that these are not always the best or the most accurate. What I would like to do know is ratify my facts by looking at the original records etc.

Was wondering what the best way to do this was.

Thanks

Worcestershire / Thomas Giles - Born abt 1765 (wick near pershore)
« on: Sunday 28 August 16 14:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am having problems tracing a birth record or death record for Thomas Giles. I believe he was born about 1765 in wick near pershore.

He married Ann Jeines (Jeans) in 1787 in wick. I think they had 8 children (one of whom was Robert Giles who I think is my 3x GG) although I have not yet clarified this by looking at actual parish records.

All my work has been done online at the moment. I am hoping to arrange a trip to Worcestershire at some point in the future but am not even sure I would know where to start if I did.

Any hints or tips on finding this information would be fab.

Thanks

H
