Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / ID required of possible Medal - Thomson, Deas or Turpies from the East of Fife.

Hi,
I have just started to research my family history as i have inherited some old photos. Some have names written on but majority do not.
I was just wondering if anyone would be able to help me date the attached photo? And if anyone knew what the medal (?) attached to his chest is?
The side of the tree that the photos are from, that i have gathered so far, are either Thomson, Deas or Turpies from the East of Fife.
