Laois (Queens) / Richard Keogh & Bridget Costello
« on: Friday 08 December 17 16:35 GMT (UK)  »
I'm wondering if anyone can helped me as have hit a brick wall.

I am trying to find the marriage / parents of my 2nd great grandparents Richard Keogh & Bridget Costello.

Richard Keogh
BIRTH ABT 1861 • Queens Co, Ireland
DEATH 15 OCT 1939 • Mountmellick, Laois, Ireland

Bridget Costello
BIRTH ABT 1866 • Co. Tipperary, Ireland (*according to 1901 census)
DEATH Unknown

Have them both listed on the 1901 (Keagh) and 1911 (Keough) census in Mountmellick, Laois.

Have the descendants of them but cannot find any marriage records for them - nor can I find the birth certs.  I have found a Bridget Costello B. 1869 in Mountmellick however cannot be sure its her.

First child Mary was born approx 1887.

I have also reviewed the NLI Parish Register but difficult to read so not sure if the entry is on there or not.

Thanks for any help you can give.

World War One / John Carmody - B.1871 - RGA 109th Coy Guernsey
« on: Friday 21 April 17 11:20 BST (UK)  »
Hi Military experts :)

I was wondering if anyone can help me make more sense of my gg. grandfathers military records.  I don't believe I am able to post it up as I got it from Ancestry and havent been able to find it anywhere else.

He was born in 1871 in Clare, Ireland (despite his record stating he was a few years younger).

Rank & Regimental Number: Gunner - 281020
Name: Carmody, John
Regiment or corps: RGA Regiment, 109th Coy Guernsey VRIC 5548

Stated on Attestation that he had previously served as RGA but cant read what it said after that.

It mentions his childrens names - well 2/3 John & Mary - he also had a daughter called Teresa but not sure why thats not on there.

It then gives his statement of the service but am unable to decipher most of what it states apart from little bits of what I already know.

Cork RGA - Gunner - 24.8.15
RGA Guernsey posted? - 13.5.17
Discharged K.R. 3GZ. XVI - 5.7.18

If anyone is able to look at it - or if I am able to post some bits of it - I am not too sure but would be greatful on some help on what he may have done.

Thanks,
Mike.

Clare / Not sure of location on birth record - Kilokennedy?
« on: Friday 21 April 17 10:58 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I am trying to identify the location of my gg grandfathers birth.  He is the 2nd one down in the image - John Carmody (Son of Michael Carmody & Sarah Lynch)

It looks like the townland of Kilokennedy but not sure what it says above that - anyone with local knowledge have any ideas - couldnt see any similarities in townland names.

Thanks,
Mike.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Patrick Crimmins
« on: Tuesday 04 April 17 10:58 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to locate any info on a Patrick Crimmins (Cremins)

Born Mar 21 1905 in Kerry, Ireland and died April 13 1962, Pentonville Prison, Isleworth.

He was deported from the USA to the UK in 1954 and ended up in Prison some time after that but I don't know what for or why he was deported to the UK for that matter..

Unfortunately I have not been able to trace any further information other than that so was hoping someone might be able to assist.  I have tried contacting the National Archives who advised they had no records as of yet for this time and is probably still likely to be within the prison but have had no luck in contacting anyone there.

I have tried looking through Newspapers etc for Case details to try and obtain where, why and when he would have been sentenced and its proving unsuccessful so far so would appreciate any information you can possible provide.

Also I know he passed away in Prison (I have the death cert) I am led to believe he may have been placed in an unnamed grave at the back of the prison or in a local graveyard.

Looking for any newspaper articles, prison / court requests and inquest.  I have located that there is a coroners inquest record at the LMA of which unfortunately have not been able to visit or get anyone to visit on my behalf - so if anyone does go there from time to time the reference is - COR/LN/1962/123.

Limerick / St Vincents Boarding School, Military Road, Limerick
« on: Tuesday 07 February 17 15:35 GMT (UK)  »
My great grandmother grew up / boarded / orphaned here and was on the 1911 census for it.  Has anyone by any chance got any details for it - history, photos etc.  As cant seem to find much out there of it.

I think it was also known as Mount St Vincents.

United States of America / Hanna Nolan - New Haven, Conneticut
« on: Thursday 29 December 16 17:23 GMT (UK)  »
I have located a ship record on Ancestry of a Hanna Nolan (my great aunt) - I don't know if I am allowed to upload the image here or not.

It states on it that she was travelling back to 63 Niccol Street, New Haven, Conn. on SS Baltic - Feb 14th 1932.  It also stated on there that she had been living in Boston previous either since 1920 or for the past 20 years.  It looks as though she travelled back to Ireland in Dec 1931 - maybe a Christmas break who knows.

I am struggling to find the following answers -
Is it possible to trace who lived at that particular address?
When did she leave Ireland initially? - I cannot find any ship record from around 1912 or 1920 that matches her.
Who was she living with?
Did she marry?
Where did she die?

I have found a few Nolan's in Connecticut any one of a Hanna around the same age but different father.

Her father would have been Michael Nolan and mother - Johannah Cremins.

I have the following other facts:
Baptism Church Record: Showing as Born Dec 5 1896 - Knightsmountain, Knocknagoshel, Co. Kerry
Birth Register Record - Registered late - showing as 20 Feb 1897
1901 Census - Lived with Grandparents - Patrick & Mary
1911 Census - With Guiney family as Servant - Unconfirmed but not ruled out it being her as is local and matches age.

Thank you for any help :)

Regards,
Mike

Hello,
Whilst I know that NLI have the records for late 1800s is it possible to see records for around 1917-1923 as trying to search info on my grandfather.  I didnt get very far with irishgenealogy.ie either unfortunately.

Thanks,
Mike.

Hi,
I am looking for Prison records for 1940-1962 trying to find someone that was emigrated from the USA back to the UK and he died in 1962.

Is there anyway of accessing these records - I know the Kew has some of them but not sure exactly what I am looking for.
