May I please ask for a look up request for the 1841 and 1851 census.

I am trying to find George henry bacon, born chelsea london 1816 and Emily simpson born 1818 chelsea.
They married in the parish of st Luke's chelsea in 1838.

In 1841 they had one son also called George henry bacon. He was born in stepney london.
I assume they still lived in london in 1841?.

I'm really sorry but I'm afraid that's all I know.

Thank you J

World War One / FRED TOMLINSON YORKSHIRE REGIMENT
« on: Tuesday 26 April 11 00:28 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I would love to find out more about my grandfather frederick thomas emanuel tomlinsons military career but don't know how to go about it?
I know he was in one of the east yorkshire regiments during WW1.
He stayed in the army after the war & served in Mauritius where three, (including my father), of his children were born.
He also served in WW2.
I have tried to find out info before but didn't get very far.
Without knwing the exact regiment I think it will be very dificult?

Freds father was also in the military. Fred spent some of his childhood in Nova Scotia while his father Ezra served in the army there.

I know Fred was at a military school in Devon when he was about 17 but thats all I know?

Would appreciate any suggestions?

JH

Hi -
I am considering joining ancestry.com.
Would I be buying into a lot more info i.e. more detailed than I can find from a census form?
Might seem like a silly question - sorry.

Armed Forces / DEVENPORT MILITARY SCHOOL
« on: Tuesday 01 March 11 15:56 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I have just found out that my grandfather - frederick thomas emanuel tomlinson was a pupil at the Devenport naval military school in 1911.

Fred was born in 1895 in Barrow-In-Furness, Cumbria.
He served in both WW1 & WW2 plus he lived in Mauritius with his family between the wars as a regular soldier in the army.

As a child he lived with his family in Nova Scotia but then came back to the UK to live in East Yorkshire. I cannot find out what they were doing there but presumably it was to do with his fathers occupation??

As far as I knew he had nothing to do with the navy so I wondered if anyone had any ideas as to why a boy from the north of england would end up in a Devon naval school??

Kind regards - Jan

Cork / WILLIAM TWOHIG
« on: Friday 23 April 10 15:31 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

This is a bit vague but I am trying to find out information relating to william twohig who lived in Macroom.
He must have been born at the end of the 19th century??

His mother was kitty McCarthy & his father was John Kelleher, (John Kelleher was a farmer & lived in Ballyverane just outside Macroom. John was married to Kate (nee Buckley).

I don't have much info on William as he was born out of wedlock.
I want to try & find out when he was born.
The problem is he was known by the knickname ' tourist' presumably because he went off to America for while.
His mother went on to marry & have two more children - James & Ellen.
There isn't anyone left in the family to ask so it is a needle in a haystack I'm afraid.

Thanks JH

Hi,
am trying to find the marriage of George Henry Bacon born in chelsea around 1816?
He was a school master living with his wife Emily in the ratcliff district of stepney causeway in 1841.
His age according to the census was 25 & Emily was 20.
They had their 1yr old son with them who was also george.

I tried looking on the bmd but couldn't find a match?
Just wondered if you had any ideas?
Don't know where to go from here??

Thank you - JH
