World War Two / RASC in Vichy French North Africa
« on: Tuesday 04 July 17 11:05 BST (UK)  »
I have my grandfathers ww2 record from the MOD. I have since found out he was on the ship RMS Laconia that was torpedoed by German u boat. They were rescued by the German crew when they discovered it wasn't a troop ship. It was then bombed by the Americans he was adrift in a life boat for 5 days until he was picked up the French troop ship Glorie and taken to Casablanca.  I was wondering if anyone knew why he boarded the Laconia in Cape town? Also does anyone else know of any survivors on the laconia? Love to hear!

Hoping that someone more experienced than me can help. I am trying to discover what happened to a relative Catherine Mccormick or McCormack born in 1881 in St Helens. I have found her on 1881 census with her parents Thomas and Julia McCormack and her siblings James, Thomas and Julia. living at Copperas Street in St Helens. Then the trial goes cold. No marriage or death and nothing on census. Can anyone help? Much appreciated

I am looking for family members of James and Mary Haselden who emigrated to Canada in 1923 from St Helens in Merseyside. Also went was Mary's brother James McManus. They resided in Verdun.  They had a daughter, Irene born in 1928 who married Kenneth Munn but divorced around 1957.
That's all the information I have right now of them in Canada. I do have there parents details in St Helens. Hope someone can help
