Down / JAmes and Mary Woods, Killinchy County Down,
« on: Thursday 25 July 19 02:12 BST (UK)  »
James and Mary immigrated on Indiana 1858,  farmed at Doyleston. Lots about the family on P.Past but it is harder to find much about James back in Ireland. They married twice on 1st April 1841 on the same day, first in Killinchy Pres. Church then in Raffery (Is this an April Fool's joke? source Ros Davies surnames index. Killinchy and Raffery appear to be neighbouring townlands just south of Belfast.
It seems that the Watsons and Woods were tenant farmers and some may be in Griffiths Valuation but hard to pin down.
Would love to hear from any of their many descendants researching this family

New Zealand Completed Requests / Descendants of Phoebe Agnes Lechner
« on: Tuesday 01 January 19 22:20 GMT (UK)  »
Phoebe Agnes Lechner ,b.30.5.1862 in Ahuriri, to William Theodore Lechner and Mary, nee Stanton, married Henry James Mead Edmonds in Petone on30.11.1887. i have found out a lot about mary, but have never managed to find a descendant who had first-hand knowledge of Mary, who left William and gallantly made her own way after many ups and downs. Are any of the Edmonds children, Robert, Kathleen, Ivy or Vernon, able to help? I know that Robert became a hotelier in Wellington 'Hotel Cecil'

Is anyone connected to  Edward Moife O'Callaghan Berry, born 1909 and adopted by the Berry family the same year. He was possibly born in Ireland or on a ship bound for New Zealand ?

New Zealand Completed Requests / Stanton Family early settlers in Nelson
« on: Friday 14 April 17 06:52 BST (UK)  »
Is anyone else researching the Nelson Stantons? I am a gt gt gt granddaughter of Mary Stanton who married  my ancestor William  Lechner in 1856, subesquently leaving and remarrying. All I know about her I have found on Papers Past -she seemed a very astute hardworking woman, who helped manage several hotels in Nelson. I know her last husband was William Dempsey but am unsure of her date of death, or whether she had any more children after she left William Lechner. Would love to make contact with any descendants.

Family History Beginners Board / Theodore Lechner
« on: Tuesday 28 March 17 05:42 BST (UK)  »
Theodore was buried in the old cemetery on 5th April 1886. Some friends took up a collection to mark the grave but purchased a wooden cross that had been standing for eighteen months over the grave of the only Englishman, Mr Banibridge  to die in the Tarawera eruption. They did not account for the money remaining -Bruce Herald 23.3.1888 Papers Past
He deserved better!  I believe someone enqired on roots chatsome time ago. I am a gt gt granddaughter of Theo and would love to be in touch with any other descendants
