Surrey / Female Prisoner Woking.
« on: Sunday 07 February 21 13:44 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone advise me as to whether I am able to find a prison photograph of my 3x Grandmother who was a prisoner in Female Prison Woking from  her trial in 1874 until her death in the prison in 1881 aged 81 of natural causes. Her name was Caroline Flower and was sentenced to 20 years for the manslaughter of her daughter in law.
I have all other information on her life plus the newspaper reports of her trial etc. but I photograph of her plus where she is buried would complete the story.
Thankyou.

Waterford / Have I got the correct Ernest Garnett.??
« on: Friday 19 June 20 09:31 BST (UK)  »
I am researching the Garnett family in Waterford.( husbands family).I have found the family who were Quakers and but was totally stuck on the name Ernest Garnett ,and thought I had found him,but then found my Ernest in England on the 1901 and 1911 census and it is him.
However I found a newspaper article in the Waterford Standard newspaper in 1934 regarding a Captain Ernest Garnett who was badly wounded in W.W.1 and came to live at Belle Lake House around 1921.I can find no information on this Capt.Ernest despite extensive searching, and am trying to find if he is related.
My Ernest died in 1963 in Tipperary.
As the Garnetts were Quakers i cant see how this Captain Garnett is the same family, but any info. or suggestions would be welcome.

Fife / Looking for family in Kinghorn area before 1817 ??
« on: Wednesday 04 September 19 09:44 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone suggest how I can get further back than a marriage in 1817 please,
My maternal ancestors were David Gray and Susan Flockart or Suzanne Flockhart. Married in the parish of North Leith 1817 Kinghorn Fife.
I've traced their life forward from this date as after their marriage they moved to Bristol where David became a Coachman on an estate and the family are still in the Bristol area today.
All my mother knew was that she had Scottish ancestry called Gray and that one may have been a baker...not much to go on.
Thank you.

Sussex / Brighton Photographer 1880,s ??
« on: Wednesday 31 July 19 11:10 BST (UK)  »
My great Grandmother placed an advert. in a national newspaper in 1892, trying to trace her brother who she had not seen or contacted  since 1882.She gives his last known address in Brighton in 1882 which is Vere Road, and says that her brother was working for a photographer name of Lefflosses.
She possibly just wrote this name as she heard it or half remembered it.
Can anyone suggest who this photographer might be please. I have Googled without success.
Thank you.

Nottinghamshire / David William Heath.radical politician.
« on: Friday 12 April 19 11:12 BST (UK)  »
My husbands great grandmother Ann Heath was believed to have a brother David William Heath. The family were born in Nantwich Cheshire.Davids birth isn't recorded but  was believed to be 1827/8.He moved to Nottingham and became a solicitor and became involved in politics of which I have details.Believed to have married in Nottingham in 1852,,wife's name possibly Mary and died in 1880.
The only David William Heath I have found on records was born in 1829 in Kent but resided in Nottingham.Could this be the same person?
Many thanks.
