Family History Beginners Board / Tracking military in 1840 census’
« on: Tuesday 04 June 19 22:19 BST (UK)  »
Wondered if anyone had any idea where soldiers in particular from Coldstream Guards and 2nd Life Guards may have been stationed in 1840.

Census for father and son draws a blank with father being in LG and Son coldstream during this period.

Regimental history doesn’t show overseas postings at this time.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Family History Beginners Board / Help with tracing Henry Peckham of Lambeth
« on: Friday 07 July 17 17:44 BST (UK)  »
Hi All, new to this board so hoping that a request for 'a fresh paid of eyes as a first post' isn't taking the Mick.

Looking for Henry PECKHAM [c.1839 - according to census' dated, 1871-1881-1891 at various addresses in Lambeth]
with wife Eliza [c1847 -] and their children.

Henry Charles PECKHAM [1870-]
Ellen (shows on one census as Elena) [? 1871-]; and
William [?1873-1941]

I have traced all three children on later census' along with respective marriages etc but cannot find matching births for any of them.

Nor can I trace Eliza, their mother, their father and his respective birth, or their parents wedding (if they in fact) married at all.

The last of the three census' of the family show that Henry claims he is a widower, living with youngest only, yet still can't find a stand out matching record in the period between census' for her death.
[I can't upload these due to file size restrictions]

Simple request I know ::), but spent some time on this and can't help feel that a fresh, more experienced pair of eyes will see the wood for the trees.

Thanks in advance for any efforts.
