Europe / Germany, missing Heinreich Ehlert

My Great Uncle Heinreich Ehlert, who was German, disappeared during the war. He was born around 1929.

The family were not pro-Nazi.

I'm wondering how on earth to go about finding out if he was recruited by the Nazis. I live in England and unfortunately do not speak/write German.
