Looking for someone with an 1851 census index willing to lookup:

William Park, age 44,
Barony District
Glasgow City
GROS data 622/00 248/00 022

I need to see what occupation is listed for him.

The info above is from SP search but no image is available.

Lanarkshire / 1841 Census - Which William??
« on: Saturday 10 June 06 22:49 BST (UK)  »
I thought I had this family figured out. My problem is an unexpected William Park  in 1841 census with my family. They were living in Gray's Close. A copy of the census image is at this link:  http://mysite.verizon.net/resoi8sa/
Here is a summery:

Archibald Park, 29, Bookprinter
Ann Park, 29
William Park, 4
Archibald Park, 2
Marion Park, 9mos.
William Park, 53, Millwright

Archibald's father was a William Park, hand loom weaver. His mother was named Janet Jackson.  I do not think the above is his father mainly because I find his father and mother with some of his brothers and sisters in Govan. Most notably his brother Basil. I have been able to find only one Basil Park born in this time frame so I am fairly certain of this.

So who is this William?
I only see five viable explanations:

1. I am wrong about Archibald's Parents.
2. There were two William Park's that each married a Janet Jackson and had sons named Archibald and Basil. (Not very likely)?
3.  The William Park with Archibald is Archie's older brother and the age should have been written 33 not 53 (written incorrectly on census).
4.  The William Park with Archibald is Archie's 1st cousin once removed.
5. The William Park with Archibald is not related.

I am looking for any ideas or suggestions. I have been really stuck on this for several months and need some input.

Lanarkshire / GROS Data and District name changes
« on: Tuesday 25 April 06 21:40 BST (UK)  »
As the names of the civil districts changed over the years, did the GROS number also change?

Example: 644 Place: Glasgow-Lanarkshire Enumeration District: 17
Civil Parish: Gorbals Ecclesiastical Parish, Village or Island: Gorbals
Folio: 17 Page: 5
Address: Nelson St
Reference on Scotlands People=644/02 017/02 005

Would the same address return the same GROS number in all censuses following 1841?

Although I have read much about this, I do not seem to be able to grasp.

Lanarkshire / Glencornes surname?
« on: Thursday 02 February 06 21:29 GMT (UK)  »
I have Sarah Glencornes in an OPR marriage in 1843 to John Park in Cadder parish, Lanark, Scotland. I am unable to find "Glencornes"  anywhere I am assuming it is not a surname. Sarah and John had two children found in OPR: Janet Jackson Park b1849 and John Park b1847.

I am attempting to determine if Sarah Glencornes is really Sarah Glen Cornes.

Any suggestions or matches?

« on: Friday 27 January 06 07:08 GMT (UK)  »
Greetings:

I have been attempting to locate (on SP) the death information for Archibald Park b 1810 in Govan. The last census I can find him is in Glasgow, 1881. Archibald was a printer in Glasgow and Falkirk. Anyone have any ideas?
