Scotland / lookup request - Grace KERR birth or baptism record
« on: Wednesday 31 January 18 04:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I have been having some trouble finding anything on my GG GM Mary Kerr's family. Her sister Grace Kerr was born in Scotland sometime between 1824 and 1831 and if I could get a hold of a record for that it would help a lot towards finding further records.

Their parents were Thomas Kerr (c1790-1864 ,Coast Guard before his death) and Grace McCollagh (c1793-1865)
Mary was born in Antrim around 1838-1841
I suspect there were other siblings that I am unaware of.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Comparing DNA - GEDmatch
« on: Saturday 27 January 18 22:02 GMT (UK)  »
Quick question.
I've only recently started comparing DNA, and so far i've been using an excel page to chart and cross reference matches. Am I right in thinking that if my relatives DNA matches with person one and tells me that, for example, it is chromosome 5 and starting and finishing at 38,000,00 and 65,000,00 .. If person one matches with person two also on chromosome 5 starting at 41,000,00 and finishing at 73,000,00, does that mean that the shared DNA between persons one and two is from the same common ancestor as my relatives, and that if the others are matching on a different range or chromosome that they share DNA from elsewhere that is not common to my relative.
hope my question makes sense.

Donegal / Looking for RIC records/birthplace/parents or siblings of JAMES KENNY
« on: Thursday 11 January 18 10:01 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I've been getting nowhere trying to find the RIC records and origins of my Great Grandfather James Kenny.

James was born circa 1874 in Co. Donegal and his father was John Kenny, the family belief is that his mothers name was O'Donnell.

He married Ellen Burke/Bourke 6/9/1905 in Westport, Mayo aged 30.
His fist child was born in Cushalogurt Kilmeena Co. Mayo in may 1906. His other children were born between june 07 and september 17 in Tubbercurry Co. Sligo and another in 1925 probably in Dublin.

I am not certain of this but believe he is recorded as J K in the 1901 census at house 1.2 in Aghagowla Beg, Kilmaclasser Aged 26. RIC constable.

He is recorded in the 1911 census at 46 Humbart Street, Tobercurry Aged 36.

He had left the RIC and moved to Dublin by 1932.

Any help appreciated.
CC

James was 6'6 height and Roman Catholic.
