b. 1845/1847 Antrim, No. Ireland. My ggf. He and wife Annie McWilliams seem to have emigrated to the U.S. late 1860's settling in Jersey City, NJ, where my gf, Robert and his brother, Hugh were born. At some point in the early 1870's they returned to Ireland, reasons unknown. They dropped off my gf in Ireland, then continued on to Scotland, where Annie bore two daughters - Elizabeth and Anna. The family re-emigrated to the states around 1878/1879 leaving my gf in Ireland, where he remained the rest of his life. Cornelius and Annie settled first in Harrisburg, then moved to Pittsburgh. I have city directories wherein he lists his occupation as "Police". I have written to the Pittsburgh P.D. personnel records, but have had no answer. I believe he was on the force in the late 1890's and would like to verify that detail. There is also an oral family history that he killed a man in a Pittsburgh steel mill. We would like to discover whether he was a cop at the time, or if there were other circumstances. All help greatly appreciated.
