US Lookup Requests / Looking for an obituary Colorado
« on: Friday 07 October 11 20:59 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find an obituary for Elizabeth (Betty) Duff Burns.   She was born in Ayrshire Scotland in 1920.   She married an American serviceman Charles Rinehart in 1944 in Ayrshire.   In 1946 she travelled to the USA on the Queen Mary as a war bride and joined Charles in Indiana.   The marriage didn't last long and I believe she was divorced as Charles remarried in 1949.

I haven't been able to find anything else about Elizabeth until her death in 1988 in Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado.   She was buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs under her maiden name Elizabeth Burns, so it looks as if she never remarried.

I think my only hope of finding out what happened to Elizabeth between her marriage and her death is to track down an obituary but I've had no success so far.   Can anyone help?

Essex / Local Chelmsford Information needed
« on: Thursday 31 July 08 21:14 BST (UK)  »
Is there anyone out there with local knowledge of Chelmsford.   I would like to know whether 75 Duke Street and 48 Mildmay Road still exist.   The Mildmay Road address was just a house I think but the Duke Street one was a photographic studio.   As far as I can tell, it was next door to the Coach & Horses Public House.   I would love to know what is there now.

Wiltshire / Wiltshire MIs
« on: Monday 02 June 08 06:40 BST (UK)  »
I've posted a lookup request in the LookUp section for a search in Wiltshire Memorial Inscriptions.   If nobody on the board has access to them, does anyone know where copies are held?   I'm based in Scotland so can't go to a local records office.

Wiltshire Lookup Requests / Poulshot & Urchfont MIs - TRIMNELL
« on: Sunday 01 June 08 16:53 BST (UK)  »
I'd be grateful if anyone could look up MIs for Poulshot and/or Urchfont for the Trimnell family.

Poulshot - Abner Trimnell and wife Mary Ann Pierce - children James, Ellen, Tamar, Fanny, Tom, John. George and Ady(??).   Abner was the Innkeeper at the Raven Inn, Poulshot at least between 1861 and 1881 - believed to have died 1897 but could have been staying with son George at Urchfont by then.   Wife Mary was already dead by 1891.  Any Poulshot MI info for the couple or any children who died there would be great.

Urchfont - the George Trimnell mentioned above and his wife Lucy Barnes - children Lucy, Maurice, Robert, Dorothy, Alick and Fred (there were more but I know what happened to them).   George farmed at Uphill Farm / Franklin's Farm at Urchfont from at least 1891.  Believed to have died at Urchfont 1917 as did his son Alick (war injuries?).  Again, any Urchfont MI info for the couple or any children who died there would be really helpful.

Isle of Man / Catherine Jane Cannell
« on: Sunday 25 May 08 18:31 BST (UK)  »
Catherine Jane Cannell married William Faragher in 1907 at Kirk Braddan - they had 4 children before he was killed in action in July 1917.   Catherine then married George William Trimnell - some information I hold suggests however that his name could have been William George rather than George William  Their first child was born in December 1918 - so it seems likely the marriage took place somewhere between those two dates.   Trimnell was originally from Wiltshire.

Catherine died in the IOM on 6th Jan 1955 and George/William Trimnell died 6th Dec 1969, both in Douglas, IOM.

I am trying to establish the names of the parents of Catherine and George (or William).  Does anyone know whether their marriage certificate or death certificates are likely to show their parents names?   I have never seen a Manx certificate so do not know what they contain.

If anyone has any knowledge of this family, I would appreciate contact - thank you.

Essex / Chelmsford MI / burial look up please
« on: Saturday 17 November 07 15:15 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help me with a look up for MI / burial in Chelmsford for a couple called Pieter J Duyshart and Alida Helena Duyshart.   This couple were Dutch and I have found the name misspelt on various records.  I've found a death index entry for Pieter showing that he died in Chelmsford in the 4th quarter of 1889 - no trace for his wife.   Pieter was a photographer and had a business in Chelmsford (P.J.Duyshart & Co) which was carried on after his death by his daughter Maria Mona Duyshart.

Any information on burial place, MI, etc would be helpful.  And if anyone knows of a source where one could get more information about the business that too would be helpful.

Isle of Man / BDM indexes for IOM? Trimnell/Cannell
« on: Monday 12 November 07 00:12 GMT (UK)  »
Can someone tell me whether there are any online BDM indexes for the IOM as there are for England?

I am trying to research the ancestry of Dorothy Eileen Trimnell born December 1918.   The family say that she was born on the Isle of Man with parents William Trimnell and Jane Cannell.

The only thing I have found for the name Trimnell on the IOM so far are 4 entries in a burial register index including George William Trimnell and Catherine Jane Trimnell (I suppose there is an outside chance that this could be the couple I am looking for and that they were known by their middle names).

Any help on this family would be very welcome.
