Donegal / Bon(n)ar & McNeillus
« on: Friday 24 February 06 12:31 GMT (UK)  »
According to their son's George birth cert. in Scotland, Neil Bonnar and Mary McNeillus married in Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, Scotland in 1850. According to their daughter's Mary birth cert in 1855 they both said they were born in Donegal, no town or parish was mentioned.
Neil was born sometime between 1816 to 1820 depending on what census your reading. Mary McNeillus was born about 1825 to 1830. They had seven children and on each birth cert her name was spelled differently, from McNeill to McNealus, Manilaws, Manellas etc.
Neil Bonnar parents were Dennis Bonnar and her mother's name was Mary ( no surname given) Mary McNeillus' parents were William Mcneillus and Mary O'Donnell. May O'Donnel was alive on the 1851 census but she must have died before 1855 since I can' t find her death.

Anyone out thereconnected?

Kincardineshire / David Watson, Arbuthnott
« on: Monday 06 February 06 23:09 GMT (UK)  »
David Watson was born in Fordoun 1782 to George Watson and Margaret Meldrum.  He was soldier in the Royal Artillery, he served in the war of 1812-1814 against the Americans where he served upon a ship in Halifiax, Nova Scotia harbour. He married Catherine Barclay of Marykirk in 1818 and they crofted at Hareden in Arbuthnott. He died in 1859 and left an estate of 90 pounds. I am descended from his oldest daughter Mary who married a Charles Stuart of Strachan. Any connections out there?
