Surrey / Looking for deaths on Church Lane, Headley Village, Surrey.
« on: Saturday 24 April 21 11:23 BST (UK)  »
Hello, how would I go about looking for any accidents/deaths that occurred any time on this road between 1700-1950? Strange request I know, but thanks if you can help. There is the Old Forge nearby it if that helps.

Family History Beginners Board / Anna Francisca Whalley
« on: Saturday 13 June 20 11:13 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I was wondering if someone could look up the baptism of 'Anna Francisca Whalley'? She was born in Bristol about 1845, and I think it is in a record collection called 'Bristol, England, Non-Conformist Baptism, Marriage and Burial Registers, 1644-1981'. I just don't have a sub to look at it at the moment. :( She went on to move to Liverpool and marry Owen Curran/Cunnan, I just couldn't find her possible birth before now.

Thank you.

Family History Beginners Board / Looking for a Burial, Durham/Newcastle
« on: Saturday 04 January 20 12:12 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I was wondering if someone could help me find a burial. A family member of mine has terminal cancer and wants to try and find a grave of one of our relatives.

It is for John Thomas McCormack (sometimes spelt 'McCormick'). He was born 1874 in Gateshead, Durham.

He married Rose Ann Mclaughlin in 1898.

He died January 1914 (I think) in Gateshead. It's the only record I find for a John T McCormick dying, so I think this is him.

In 1911, his address was 26 Holly St Felling, in Heworth, Durham.

Thank you so much

Hello there,

I am trying to find more information on Bridget McGorry/McGoury/McGory

She was born about 1820 in Draperstown, Londonderry (some place in Draperstown called 'Corrick'). She married Farrell Cleary, but I am not sure when; as I can't find the marriage record. Farrell was born in 1805 in Draperstown. I think the family stayed in the same area their whole lives, I find some baptism records for Bridget and Farrell's children in the old parish of Ballynascreen.

They had a son James Cleary (my 2x great grandfather), born 1848. The residence of the family at the time is listed as 'Corrick'. I don't know who he married or anything much about him sadly, but he had a daughter Mary Ann Cleary, who was born in about 1887 in Londonderry.

They had a son John Cleary born 1858, again residence is 'Corrick' in Draperstown.

They had a daughter Catherine Cleary, born 1864 in Draperstown.

I think Bridget died in 1882 in Magherafelt. Anything else anyone can find about when the marriage was, or about the family - I would be so grateful. Thank you!

Hi there,

I have a relative who disappeared without any trace. I think he is likely dead now. His name is James A Page born September 1927 in Liverpool. His father was Charles Thomas Page born 1883 in Liverpool and who died overseas in 1936 (merchant navy). His mother was Ellen/Eleanor Horobin and she was born 1902 in Liverpool and died 1948 in Liverpool. My mum says James often went by 'Jimmy', and that he disappeared without a trace shortly after his mother's death. I don't know what happened to him, if he got married...nothing. I am really curious if anyone can help me find out what happened to him. Thank you so much.

Hi there, I don't know if anyone can help me but I am requesting a grave look up and a cremation look up.

I am trying to find where in Allerton Cemetery (Liverpool, UK), Ellen/Eleanor Page was buried. She was born 3rd Oct 1902 in Liverpool, and died on 24/12/1948 in Liverpool. I am not sure when she was buried but she would probably have been buried in the Catholic section of the cemetery.

For the cremation remains, I am not sure if there would be any record; and so don't know whether it would be possible to find the location. I am looking for my grandfather John Gostage Bibby (born 26th June 1929 in Liverpool), who died on 17th September 1976 in Liverpool, not sure when he was cremated, but his remains were put somewhere in an unmarked cremation area in Allerton.

Thanks so much if you can help!

Family History Beginners Board / Brickwall: James Carr
« on: Saturday 12 May 18 09:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi guys, don't know if anyone can help me further but I have hit a brick wall with my ancestor James Carr.

He was born between 1871 - 1875 (marriage cert suggests it was 1874), and gives his birth place as 'Black Hill, County Durham, England' on the 1911 census. He married Catherine McGuigan in 1902 in the Gateshead district, on the marriage certificate he gives his father's name as 'James Carr', who was deceased at the time of wedding, but had been a 'general labourer'. James junior had two children, Catherine Carr and James Bernard Carr.

It is the marriage certificate that threw my research off, because I found a family I thought matched him in 1881 in Black Hill, but the father was William Carr...so it can't have been my James. It seemed a perfect match too, because there was a brother 'Bernard Carr' in this family, which made sense since my James named one of his sons 'James Bernard'. Anyway, turns out to be wrong family in 1881 according to the marriage certificate.

In 1902, James was living at 15 Field Street, Felling. I can't find any more info to go on to find the right James's birth certificate or family. I did find a WW1 document which I think was him, except his wife's maiden name was 'McGuiggs', but I can't seem to find this document on Ancestry now.

Can anyone help me break through this brick wall and get further back then this James? I had no problems getting further back with Catherine, just fyi. Thank you so much

Bit of a long shot, but I don't suppose anyone could please find my ancestor's grave and take a photo? It is in Ford Cemetery in Bootle/Liverpool: 7 Sterrix Green, Bootle, Liverpool L21 0JP. His name is Thomas Tucker (possibly the grave may say Thomas Tucker Page), born 1846, died 1915. He is in section C I believe, grave C. 182.

Thank you so much if you can help!

Armed Forces / Merchant Navy records?
« on: Sunday 22 April 18 10:52 BST (UK)  »
I have an ancestor who worked in the merchant navy from about 1901 - 1936, he died in 1936 in Nigeria of Malaria. I have his death certificate from abroad, and have been able to find the names of a few ships he was on, and a few destinations he visited. I read one of the stickies in this sub-forum, and I wondered if any further records exist for him, and if so; how could I go about applying for them? He stayed in the merchant navy right up until he died. I wondered if there would be any WW1 documentation or maybe some kind of record with a photo? Thanks if you can help.
