A morgage between John Barber, and Samuel leppington, and Joseph Richardson of Halifax Yorkshire.
The old owners of our house were called - 'Gerald ivor lindsay Town'- his wife was called Christine mary from Halifax yorkshire , Geralds date of birth was 2nd dec,1946

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Delisle Rule
« on: Thursday 09 January 20 12:10 GMT (UK)  »
Delisle Rule my 3rd X great grandfather.
Ive been searching his records for a few weeks now ever since i bought his marriage certificate.

Marriage- Delisle Rule and Frances Hand
8th sept 1845
Delisle Rule- of age - Bachelor - Stonemason .Father- John Rule (dead) stonemason.
Frances Hand - of age - Spinster -
Residence at the time of marriage- Parish of Tipton- west bromwich
Witness'es -Charlotte Hand.

On the marriage of Delisle's Daughter Elizabeth Rule my 2nd great grandmother, 1875 Wednesbury staffs-
Delisle was a Soldier - witness - Frances Rule.

Delisle must have joined the army before the 1851 census,  He was known in army records as Lisle Rule.
I have records of him being a Deserter from the army and held at York in 1852 . Then again for disertion in 1854 being held at Canterbury -sentenced for 365 days.

I have a record of him in the barracks at Brighton as a Inniskillen Dragoon in 1857 -this time not for desertion- just a working soldier.

Elizabeth Rule married Robert Duncan- a shoemaker in west bromwich-in 1875 , but in the 1861 census she was 11 years old working as a Servant for a coachman and his wife in Roebuck street west brom, just around the corner from her mother Frances on Union street.

I am still trying to find a birth date and death date for Delisle/Lisle Rule, and still trying to find a Mothers name and a place of birth,,   if anyone can help ,please do get in touch

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Susana (Susannah) Kenworthy 1752 (The Strumpet) & beyond
« on: Tuesday 27 March 18 13:04 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

Like many Kenworthy decendants of Thomas (born, Honley in 1773) we're stuck with his unmarried mother Susannah descibed in Thomas' baptism record as a 'strumpet'.
Her father we believe is John Kenworthy - there are a couple to choose from including John born, Almondbury 1727 who many people have marrying Hannah Wilson in 1745. This would be the same John & Hannah that Arthur Jessop mentions in his diary. Has anyone a list of children for this couple?
I have possible siblings for Susannah - Sarah, 1745: William, 1748 & John, 1754.
Another possible father for Susannah could be John Kenworthy (Kenneley) who married Sarah Haigh in 1734. If he is from the Slaithwaite Kenneley family it would be interesting as the names Susannah and Thomas are v popular within this family, Kenneley often being noted in the registers as a vulgar form of Kenworthy.
Any help or enlightenment would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Simon Kenworthy
