« on: Wednesday 09 January 13 21:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hello. If anyone is possibly visiting Surrey Archives, I would be very grateful if they could take a digital photograph  of an entry. I have been told a photocopy is not possible and I live too far away to visit.               The registers are for St.peters nursing memorial home in Woking. Matilda Wichett a general servant from hackney- date of admission ..11/9/1899 age 20  page 132 '- register 7805/6/34.    Matilda was my grandfathers sister.     Thank you.  Daisy.  : )

Turning to the Irish side of my family, I know very little and need to start with the birth of my in laws which would have been around 1912. I have searched in vain for an Irish equivalent of the GRO registers for Births, marriages and deaths.   Could someone please point me in the right direction.

Thank you

The Common Room / Marriage Licences Faculty Office
« on: Wednesday 05 December 07 23:01 GMT (UK)  »
I am puzzled.  ???

I have just been onto the British Origins site and found a marriage in the Marriage Licences Faculty Office Allegations Index, B.Origins then want £10. for a hard copy with all the details!  Luckily I had a copy of this CD from Archive Cd Books, but when I searched it by name and date the marriage wasn't there!   :-\    Are there more than 1 set of these Allegations?  Also how would I find out which Church the marriage took place at without paying the £10? or visiting the SOG in London.

Please help

Is there any kind person who will be going to the Guildhall Archives London?

I won't be able to go to London for some sometime and I would very much appreciate  a couple of 'look-ups' to verify if I have the correct person.

St.Botolph Bishopsgate

Marriage of Charles Salmon and Ann Sanderson 21 December 1789

Baptism of Charles Salmon 24 December 1802
Baptism of Ann Salmon 7 November 1805

I would like to know if possible the full details from the above  eg.Addresses, occupations and if possible on the marriage parents names or witnesses.

Thank you very much in anticipation.

The Common Room / What to do with unwanted Data cd's?
« on: Thursday 02 August 07 15:15 BST (UK)  »
What do other Rootschatters do with their data cd's when they have finished with them?

I collected all the census sets for London and some for Hampshire and Suffolk, but now with Ancestry I don't really need them , but need the space.

I have discovered it is illegal to sell them or even give them away as we don't own the information, just have a licence to use it?

Are other Rootschatters aware of this?   and what do they do?  It would be a shame to 'dump' them (and that's probably not allowed either)
