« on: Saturday 27 May 06 21:51 BST (UK)  »
Hi there,

I wondered if SKS would be able to look up the baptism of my 3 x great grandmother Dinah FIELDHOUSE please?

Info from the LDS web site says ...

Dina Fieldhouse
9 Feb 1817 @ Westgate Wesleyan, Baildon, Yorkshire
Parents Thos. Fieldhouse & Ellenr.

I'd appreciate any help - thank you  :)

Best wishes Vanda

Completed Census Requests / FreeBMD & Postems
« on: Wednesday 10 May 06 10:56 BST (UK)  »
Morning everyone,

I've just been on the freebmd website and found an entry for a marriage that I am interested in.  I decided to click on the red 'info' button at the end of the name and a new page opens up.  It says 'Add a Postem' where you can leave information.

Q: Can you enter the information from that particular certificate so that the next person looking at that name doesn't have to pay £7.00 for the information or is there some legal stuff that says you can't??

Thanks, Vanda  ;D

« on: Saturday 22 April 06 21:53 BST (UK)  »
Hi there,

I have a subscription to Ancestry.co.uk but it won't let me look at the USA records so I was wondering if some kind sole would look up the following family for me please in any records available...

Port Clinton, Schuylkill County, PA
Rarick  Levi  48, landlord.  (born approx 1843)
Sarah,
Ida,
Harry  16,
Charles  14,
Meta J,
George W.  9,
Edward N.  6.

According to a very kind person in the USA, this information was from 1890 Federal Census, Port Clinton, Schuylkill County, PA
Sarah Rarick was my great, great grandfather's sister.  She was born in Yorkshire England and baptised Sarah Horrocks.  If anyone can find her or her family in any other census I would be grateful.  If any one would like anything looked up in the GB census in return please let me know :O)

Thank you, Vanda

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Help with Birth in Halifax
« on: Thursday 13 April 06 17:59 BST (UK)  »
Hi there,

My GG Grandmother, Sarah Mason Smith was born in Halifax in 1844 (according to the 1851 & 1861 Census).  Her parents were John Smith & Dinah.

I have some information that says she was born 15 April 1844.  The same info says her husband was born on 29 SEP 1841.  This has come from someone in the family but I don't know who, (long story).  I have received her husbands birth certificate this morning which confirms that his date of birth is the same as the information I have (29 SEP 1841) so I am assuming Sarah's DOB is correct.  I have spent ages looking through the SCHI for Smith and cannot find her anywhere.

My question is, if I wrote to the Registrar for Halifax and gave her/him the information I have, would they do a search for me ???

Thank you, Vanda

Cheshire / Help finding a birth please
« on: Sunday 09 April 06 14:24 BST (UK)  »
Hi there,

I'm really struggling to find any births for this family in the indexes and I wondered if I could ask for another pair of eyes to help me please  ::)

Sarah Bann - Head - Wid - 37 - Charwoman - Derbyshire, Sudbury
John Bann - Son - Um - 16 - Jigman in a coal mine - Cheshire, Worth
Emma Bann - Daur - 13 - worker in a cotton mill - Cheshire, Poynton
Frances Maria Bann - Daur - 10 - Cheshire, Poynton
Thomas Bann - son - 5 - Cheshire, Poynton
William Bann - son - 6 months - Cheshire, Worth

On Emma's marriage certificate of 1868 it states her surname as BAND ???  So I'm not sure which is the correct surname BAND or BANN.

Thank you for any help - Vanda
