Ireland / Thomas Flood born Ireland c 1857
« on: Wednesday 15 January 20 17:18 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find information about my g grandfather Thomas Flood. I know he was born in Ireland c 1857 and died in Falkirk, Scotland on 5 Aug 1927. His parents were Patrick Flood, farm labourer and Ann Carlin. Thomas married MaryAnn McConnachie at St Margaret's Chapel, Kinning Park, in Glasgow on 31 Oct 1881 - both his parents are recorded as deceased. My mother seemed to remember her father saying the family originally came from Strabane Railway but that may just have been a red herring.
I know it is a long shot but someone may have come across the names in their trees. Many thanks

Donegal / Cornelius Connaghan & Mary Keenan

I am trying to find more information about the ancestors of my gg grandparents Cornelius (Condy) Connaghan and Mary Keenan. They were married in Killaghtee in Jan 1851 and moved to Glasgow, Scotland either that year or the next as their children were born there. At a later stage in life, they changed the family name to McConnachie. Condy was born c 1820 in Co. Donegal to Daniel/Donald Connaghan, a farmer and Helen Kelly. He died in Glasgow on 28 Dec 1891. Mary was born c 1829 in Co. Donegal to James Keenan, a carpet weaver and Agnes Brannan. She died in Glasgow on 26 April 1898. The family story is that they were from Dunkineely which would fit with being married in Killaghtee. I know in the 1861 Glasgow census, Jack Brannan and his wife Susan were staying with the Connaghans. I presume Jack was Mary's cousin. Condy was a dock worker and Jack a fish packer.
Any information would be gratefully received.

I am trying to find more information on Jessie's birth and her mother Ann Drummond. From the 1851 census it seems Jessie was born circa 1843 in Alloa (it says specifically Sauchie in a later census). William Ure dies in 1842 in Falkirk (but I can't trace him in the 1841 census) and William & Ann never marry. Jessie was brought up by her grandparents William Ure & Mary Drysdale (and later her Uncle Charles) in Falkirk. Jessie's marriage certificate in 1868 to James Nicol says her parents were both dead. Does anyone have any information on Ann Drummond? I don't believe she is the one born in Falkirk in 1822 who later marries Gilbert McIntosh because that person is still alive in 1868. William Ure senior owned property and was born in Tillicoultry. I have tried Jessie, Jane, Jean and Janet as well as Drummond, Drysdale & Ure in ScotlandsPeople but can understand if it was hidden as an illegitimate birth. Many thanks in advance.
