Lanarkshire / Partick Iron Foundry
« on: Sunday 03 January 10 17:25 GMT (UK)  »
Partick Iron Foundry  (Robert Duncan & Co Ltd) 83 Castlebank Street Partick

I am trying to trace the history of this company and the family who owned it.
I have found a few photographs online on the Scran and Scotlands Places website, these show the buildings after the foundry was closed
I know it was run by Robert Duncan untill 1888, after his death sons William and Robert took over, I am unable to trace any other details on-line.

Can anybody point me in the right direction for online research

Rob

Rockbank, Partick, Glasgow,

I have been tracing the Duncan family all over Glasgow, Greenock and Renfrew.
In the 1871 census I have found Robert Duncan and his family living at 8 Rockbank, Partick, Glasgow, it seems a quite affluent area as everybody seems to have servants, his occupation is given as Ironfounder employing 39 men and 5 boys.
I have searched online maps but come up blank for this address, anyone know where it might have been??????
Or what Iron foundries are in the area
