London and Middlesex / George Barratt born 1827 Middlesex
« on: Monday 28 December 20 17:50 GMT (UK)  »
Hi - I wonder if anyone can help me with this please.
I am looking for any information on George Barratt born 1827 Middlesex.  I have found him on Family Search in the 1841 Census with his family at St John the Evangelist, Westminster - father George Frederick Barratt, mother Jane Barratt, daughter Jane Barratt and others.  I cannot find his birth or where he was before or after 1841,  He is not the George Barratt connected to the sweet factory.
I think his father, also George Barratt, died in 1842 as he was not mentioned in 1851 Census and neither is son George.
I cannot find any other information on father George Barratt either except the 1841 Census - I think he was born around 1800-1803.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thank you. :) ???

The Common Room / George Henry Edward William Cogan born around 1832 and Ellen Wade
« on: Saturday 28 November 20 10:37 GMT (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone can help me please - I know George Henry Cogan and Ellen Wade were married in June 1860 Kensington District - I cannot find any other information about them - I know they had at least two children, Thomas and Mary, but I cannot find their birth registrations - roughly I think they were 1873 Thomas and around 1880 Mary but that is all I can find.  I know Mary married William Hyman in 1904 and Thomas married Eliza Hillsley and I also know they lived in the Earlsfield district of Wandsworth.  I am researching this for my brother in law and any help with any information about them would be fantastic.
Thank you.
Kind regards :) ::)

Please could somebody help me to find out the parents of Eric W Barratt who was born in the Leyton district of East London and registered West Ham in 1911.

I know that later he lived near Southend, Essex and then Orpington, Kent - I am trying to research this for my brother in law.  I would be grateful for any help.

Many thanks.  :)

I would be very grateful if someone could please look up something for me - I would just like to know if it is stated where Henry Jones and Emma Williams were living on their marriage certificate 21 June 1857 St James Church, Clerkenwell as I thought it might help me to trace where their son Thomas Jones was born around 1859.  Try as I might I cannot find him anywhere.  I know they were living at 8 Robert Street, Chelsea in the 1861 Census with Henry's father John but Thomas is not  listed there but he is listed aged 12 in the 1871 Census when they were living at Ellen Place, Battersea.  (He was always Thomas William Jones in later censuses - on one census he was born at St. Pancras but other times it was Kingsland - don't know what to make of it all as I cannot trace anything!)

As Henry and Emma were living in Chelsea in 1861 I wonder if they moved there and he was born around that area.  I have found a listing for a Thomas Jones born Kensington December Quarter 1858 Vol: 1a Page: 103 but for some reason it is not listed on the GRO Index - I have sent a message to them to query that.   Of course, I don't even know if that will be him - just clutching at straws!!

Any help would be wonderful.  Thank you.

World War One / WW1 Kings Own Royal Lancaster Regiment 7th Btn R E Jones
« on: Thursday 21 February 19 11:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hello - I would be very grateful for some help with information about my granddad Robert Ernest Jones - Service No. 22995 WW1 King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment 7th Battalion (WIA). I found a medal in a drawer at home and have found out these details because they were inscribed around the edge and now would like to find out more information. I know he was injured during the war and he only had one arm and I have been trying to find out how, when and where this happened. I know he suffered a lot with ill health throughout his life. He was born in Camberwell, London in 1898 and died December 1966. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Hi everyone - I have this family photo but only know a few people in it.  My granddad is the second man on the far right of the picture and my nan is standing behind him holding a baby (my mum).  My granddad's elder sister Ethel is in the back row on the far right and I think she has her arm around her husband, Sidney Murrell.  I am trying to find out who got married - I have tried his other sister Frances and sent for the marriage certificate only to find out it is not the right one.  I am now trying to find out if it is his elder brother Charles who got married - I know it is around the 1921/1922/3 time because of the age of my mum in the photo (she was born on 16.10.1921).  I have looked up a few marriages for Charles Jones on freebmd and wonder if anyone would be able to look to see if Charles Jones' father is called Thomas William Jones in any of them.  Here are the details of some of the Charles Jones marriages around that time (as I said before the family lived around the Peckham Camberwell area so I am assuming it would have been around there.  If anyone could please help I would be very grateful.  Thank you:

Buckinghamshire Lookup Requests / Henry Jones born 1829 Penn Buckinghamshire
« on: Wednesday 19 September 18 16:46 BST (UK)  »
I have been looking for the birth place and parents for my great great grandfather Henry Jones.  I have looked at many different censuses and I think he was living: 1851: Islington, Middlesex; 1871: Ellen Place, London-surrey; 1881: 153, High Street, Battersea, London; 1891: White Hart, Battersea, London.  I think his wife was called Emma.  I believe he had one son (my great grandfather) - Thomas William Jones (born Kingsland, Middlesex 1859 although I cannot find his birth certificate either and have sent for many certificates only to find them not the right one). I have Thomas' marriage certificate when he married Georgina Seabrook on 25 February 1880) and that is how I found out his father was called Henry.  I seem to be stuck now and would appreciate any help anyone could give me.  Thank you so much. :) :)
