Canada Lookup Request / Stephen S. Rawn (1902-1956) - Huntsville, Ontario
« on: Friday 12 April 24 06:24 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I have found a Stephen Sholten Rawn (b 2 Nov 1907 Sunnidale, Ontario) in my search for relations, in Canada, and discovered that he died on 31 Mar 1956 at Huntsville Tannery, Huntsville, Ontario while attempting to save a fellow worker.

What was the tragedy at Huntsville Tannery, and were there any newspaper reports about this? Is there an obituary for Stephen Rawn?

I have seen a photo of the headstone on his grave, without details, and cannot find any information about where Stephen Rawn was actually buried.

I am hoping that someone might to be able to answer these questions for me. Thank you.

US Lookup Requests / Isabella (Spoor) Moore (1865-1913) - Indiana.
« on: Friday 02 February 24 21:01 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I am seeking any newspaper details for Isabella Moore (nee Spoor) (b 1865 Indiana) who was married to John Moore (1855-1928). On returning to Clinton, Indiana, after the funeral of her father, William Spoor (1833-1913) on 24 May 1913 she was brutally murdered by her husband.

Was there a trial, and what sentence was given? I am interested to know more details. I am also looking for the marriage record of Isabella Spoor and John Moore, unable to locate.

John Moore died in 1928 and was buried in Cottage Hill Cemetery, Brazil, Clay, Indiana, USA, the same cemetery as his victim, her father and other family members.

Thank you.

« on: Monday 03 July 23 00:36 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I am seeking any information available about Gabriel Galt Cramb (b 7 Aug 1890 Glasgow) who was in the Army, and died in London on 28 Mar 1929. Was he a Chelsea Pensioner? Is there an obituary for him, and where was he buried?

Gabriel's mother, Agnes (Galt) Cramb (b 1866 Glasgow) also lived, and died, in London on 25 Mar 1929 in Bermondsey, Surrey - three days before her son! Burial took place at Nunhead Cemetery, Linden Grove, London. Gabriel's father, William Cramb (b 1864 Edinburgh, Scotland) had emigrated earlier to the USA to join another son.

I am hoping that someone might be able to help me. Thank you. Regards.

« on: Wednesday 22 February 23 03:11 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I am seeking any information about William J Acorn (b 1869 Paterson, NJ). In 1890 he married Ida R Shepherd (1866-1941), in New York City, NY.

I have not found any children. I do know that William and Ida Acorn are both buried at Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson, NJ.

I understand that William J Acorn was also at one time the Mayor of Totowa. I would be interested to know more about his political career, and any photos would be so much appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi,

I have been trying to trace a branch of my Kent FOX line who went to Western Australia. I am seeking any information, especially an obituary, for Forrester Charles Alick Fox (1915-1984). In 1953 he married Beryl Florence Cheney (1916-2008) at Dwellingup, WA and they had two children: Richard Aubrey Fox (1958-1993) and one other son.

I have details of a grave at Narrogin Cemetery, WA that contains Forrester, his wife Beryl, and their eldest son Richard. The writing on the headstone however has become unreadable.

Obituaries, or any further information on all three Fox family members would be very much appreciated. I have details from Electoral Rolls. Thank you.

Other Countries / Henry FOX (1844-1864) - West Indies
« on: Friday 15 April 22 03:00 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I am trying to find any available information about Henry Fox (b 1844 Deal, Kent), son of David and Ann (Dawkins) Fox.

All that I know is Henry Fox died in the West Indies in 1864.

Was he a seaman with the Royal Navy? What was he doing in the West Indies? How did he die and is there a grave anywhere?

Is there any mention of the death in a newspaper?

I would very much like to know more about this young man. Thank you.

US Lookup Requests / John Cody Haddow Jr (1912-1989) Colorado
« on: Friday 28 January 22 22:56 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I am seeking some details for John Cody Haddow Jr (b 27 Feb 1912 Brilliant, NM), son of Gabriel Galt Haddow (1881-1928) and Margaret McCracken (White) Haddow (1887-1914).

His father was tragically killed in an accident at Toller Coal Mine, Trinidad, CO in 1928. His mother had died in 1914 when John and his sister Jessie, were still small children.

I am wondering who raised John and his sister, until they were adults. I know that John Jr was involved with the US Air Force, and when he died 22 Nov 1996, he was buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, CO.

Thank you.
