Hi. I have some confusion on this marriage.

Margaret Gardner married John Shirlock (or Sherlock) on 3.20.1868. Apparently he died. I am still looking for his death record.

Margaret Sherlock (or Shirlock), a widow, married Robert Love, a widow. I have multiple marriage dates on the children’s birth records as follows:

Annie Gardner Love b 1879 shows 3.20.1874, Glascow (Info provided by Margaret Love on birth)
Mary Love b 1879 shows 3.20.1874, Hutchisontown (sp?) Glascow (Info provided by Margaret Love on birth)
Robert Love b 1881 shows 6.1.1874, Dennistown (sp?) (Info provided by Robert Love)
Catherine Love b 1883 shows 6.18.1880 Dennistoun, Glascow (Info provided by Margaret Love)
Wilson Love b 1885 shows 6.1.1874 Dennistoun, Glascow (Info provided by Robert Love)
John Love b 1889 shows 6.1.1874 Dennistoun, Glascow (Info provided by Robert Love)

I cannot find any marriage records for 3.20.1874 or 6.1.1874.  I did find the marriage record for 6.18.1880 and it seems to match.

Any thoughts on this?

Much appreciated!

Berwickshire / Marriage Record Falconer 1855
« on: Tuesday 25 August 20 19:59 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I am looking for the marriage record for Helen or Ellen Falconer who married William Stewart.  They were married July 1855, Berwick on Tweed, Scotland.  I have looked on Scotland’s People, Ancestry, Find my Past, nd Family search and cannot find anything.

1861 Scotland Census Record shows her as Helen Stewart b 1829
1871 Scotland Census Record shows her as Helen Stewart b 1833
1881 Scotland Census Record shows her as Ellen Stewart b 1832
1891 Scotland Census Record shows her as Ellen Stewart b 1836

I have the birth record of her child that states her maiden name of Falconer and that they were married July 1855 Berwick on Tweed.  Her burial record shows her name as Ellen Faulkner Stewart d 1900.

Any thoughts or help is appreciated.

The Common Room / Joseph William Riley

Hi!  I am stuck and looking for some help.

My great grandfather was Joseph William Riley.  His son, my grandfather, was William Riley

Joseph William Riley: Born between 1858-1860, but I think 1858 in Liverpool, Lancashire, England. I have the following census records: 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901, and 1911 on Ancestry.

His wife was Catherine Riley, (nee Stewart born in Perth, Scotland).   On my grandfathers marriage license (William Riley married my grandmother in 1924 in Canada) says that his father was born in Ireland and wife was born in Scotland. Not sure if my great grandfather was born in Ireland or England? I am assuming England.

His son, my grandfather, William Riley was born August 9, 1899, in West Derby, Lancashire, England. I have his birth certificate stating his father and mothers names so they are confirmed.

Joseph Riley was in the 1901 census record as head of household.  In the 1911 Census Record, it shows his wife Catherine Riley as a widow so it appears he died between 1901 and 1911.  They were living in West Derby, Lancashire, England.  I cannot find a date or where he died.  Have tried to research events going on around that time with no success.

Any advice or help is appreciated!

Terri

Hi!  I have a question regarding my grandmothers marriage. In the 1881 census record that I found, it says that she was already married at the age of 19 years old.  The Marriages and Banns says that she was 21 years of age when married and my grandfather was 21 years of age. Information is as follows on the marriage ban:

Grandmother is Catherine Riley, (maiden name is Stewart) Born in Perth, Scotland.
Grandfather is Joseph William Riley.  Born Liverpool, Lancashire, England
Marriage date is 8 Sept 1879
Marriage place is St. Mary’s Church, EdgeHill, Parish of West Derby, County of Lancaster.

Could there be an error on the Marriage ban or census record?

Thank you. Terri Kessler
