Dunbartonshire / Big Problem, need help please
« on: Saturday 24 February 24 10:51 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Everyone.  I have a James Hardie marrying Margaret Findlay, July 3rd, 1842 Cadder Scotland. info from Scotlands people.
On Margaret's death (SP), she died 20th August, 1905, age 76, west Benhar, Harthill, Shotts.  I estimate Margaret's birth as 1829, going by age on death cert.  I have searched SP, till i ran out of credits and the only match i can find for said parents, is 1839. Death states parents to be Charles Findlay and Mary Crawford.

So, something not making sense?  If Margaret born 1829, she married in 1842 at 13 years old?, but cant find a birth in that time slot with stated parents...........If it is the one i found on SP for 1839, with stated parents, (that no credits to look at in full as yet) makes even less sense, she certainly wasnt married at 3 years old !!!!!!!!!!      I am really puzzled and stuck !!!!! any suggestions most welcome............kind regards from Heather.

Lanarkshire / Colligan......can someone connect the dots please
« on: Friday 12 January 24 08:46 GMT (UK)  »
Hello everyone, Please bear with me. Scotland census, Holytown, 1881,
Helen Colligan age 68 (head)
John Cooper age 26 (nephew)
Elizabeth Knox age 9 (grandaughter)

1871 Census
Ellen Colligan age 58 (wife)
John Colligan age 51 (head)
John Colligan age 16 (nephew)
ellen Colligan age 5 (grandaughter)

In looking at John Colligan/Cooper the nephew,  from what i can find on Ancestry, he was born to a Margaret Colligan, his father being John Cooper.  Margaret's parent were Edward Colligan and Ann Cleland......on one cesus her parents are recorded as surname Colville and it seems as on Margarets marriage to John Cooper, her surname was recorded as Colvine or Colvile.....John Cooper deserted Margaret.
My question now is, for John Colligan/Cooper to be the nephew of above said John Colligan, he would have to be Margaret's brother, right?, but Margaret's brother John, wasnt born till 1837. The John Colligan above, looks to be born 1820.
Should it be recorded as great nephew? maybe? making, Edward colligan and John Colligan brothers?
Trying to establish the relationship between Edward Colligan's family and John Colligan's family.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated.
kind regards from Heather

Armagh / Name/Place?
« on: Monday 14 August 23 03:39 BST (UK)  »
Hello Everyone.  I have John Laurison (many different spellings for surname).  I have information on him with his marriage to Sarah Jane Gibson and their family and I know that he was discharged from the military the day before he married Sarah in 1875.   It says that he was a widower on his marriage to Sarah, so I am now trying to find his first marriage.  I think he was in the military for 21 years before marrying Sarah.     I found a pension date on Ancestry for him..........John Laurisson, pension date 15th july 1875, 62nd foot, regiment number 720. Birthplace given as Muharika, Tandragee, Armagh.     Does anyone know where Muharika is?  Also where might i find his military records?  John was born abt 1836.
Any help, as awlways is greatly appreciated, thank you from Heather.

Armagh / Gibson/Brunkard
« on: Sunday 13 August 23 09:40 BST (UK)  »
Hello Everyone. After about 10 years, I have made another small discovery. Now, if anyone can help me add some more, that would be great.   GGG Grandmother Elizabeth Brunkard married John Gibson, April 6th, 1854, Derryhale, mullavilly, Kilmore, Armagh. Their daughter (my GG Grandmother), Sarah jane Gibson or Plunkard (obvious mis spell) was baptised 1852, Derryhale, etc as above.  Other children found so far for John and Elizabeth are, Elizabeth 1864, Tandgaree. James 1867, Armagh. Robert 1871 Tandgaree and George 1873 Armagh, these children surnames Gibson or Gipson.    So,  i am still looking for more children as there are big gaps between siblings, also and deaths for anyone above.  I have sarah jane covered, so anything that anyone can find on any of the others will be greatly appreciated, no matter how small.   Kind regards from Heather

« on: Tuesday 18 January 22 03:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, I have finally found a missing relative.  Emily Laurison, from Laurelvale Armagh.  I have her parents and siblings, so that is covered. Emily married Herbert Weir , 1820 ish, area, Portadown?.  I sighted their marriage cert on Irish genealogy, where Emily is named as Emma Lawson ( from memory as i could not download the cert).  Emma/Emily was my GG Aunt.  I was hoping to find any children they may have had, where and when they passed away, where they are buried,  any information about them at all really. I know such recent history is usually hard to find,  but any help will be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards from Heather
