Europe / WEDDING
« on: Yesterday at 17:06 »
this is a long shot i think as i don't know if they got married in Germany.
i am looking for a marriage for James Buchannan and Annalise otten. as far as I know she was born in Germany somewhere and James was born in Scotland 1924 .she was a nurse. And as far as i have been told they moved from Scotland to Australia . they would not have had any children again i don't know.
not James mothers husband died in the 1st world war so her husband was not James father. so on James birth certificate his name is down as James buchanan or brown as brown was his step brothers and sister last name

William brown born 21/01/1885 Glasgow
joined 2nd battalion cameronians Scottish rifles  1904 age 18 & 7 months as a private
his wife was mary carruth buchanan and they had 6 kids
killed in action 25/03/1918 he is in ham British cemetery muille-villette France
he was a a/Cpl 266296 William brown

I am his great grandson
and the story I got told was. he was blown to bits in France in the first world war. and no one new where he was. then in 1920 his wife was visited by the red cross to see if she new where her husband was. and at the same time some of his army friend where in the house as well. and told the red cross the story  about how he got blown to bit and they picked him up and put him in a sack and buried him. so they finally found him and put him in the cemetery in France. so his wife got nothing at all apart from a sorry letter. and the medals he would have had. so my grandfather said how is this meant to keep the family. and he took the medals down to the river Clyde in Renfrew Scotland. and chucked them into the river. I would love to know if his service record are available as I would love to know the real story as my grandfather and hid brothers and sisters all thought he was in Lille in France. but I started the family tree to late for them to know the truth
