Littleham Exmouth Bishops Transcripts

The parish registers of St Margaret & St Andrew, Littleham, Exmouth have a large gap in continuity for the following years;

Baptisms 1706-1743           Marriages 1706-1743             Burials 1678-1743

In an attempt to restore what can be from this loss, I have recently compiled an index of all the surviving Bishops Transcripts from 1699-1743. The index is available now on Genuki on the Littleham, Exmouth page under “Church Records”. It is also available on FreeReg & in the members area of the Devon Family History Society in the articles section.

Dorset / Burials for 1881 Wynford Eagle or Toller Fratrum
« on: Thursday 27 July 23 21:23 BST (UK)  »
I am searching for the burial place of Angelina Francis who died at Wynford Eagle 21st August 1881.
I can find no trace of burial registers for either parish after 1880 in the Dorset Heritage Centre catalogue or online. Does anyone know if the burials registers or bishops transcripts of burials
for either parish survive.

Devon / East Stonehouse Burials
« on: Friday 27 September 19 17:23 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone confirm that there were burials at St George's, East Stonehouse for the years 1856 & 1857.

The burial registers at the Devon Heritage Centre end in 1827, & the BT's end in 1840.

The catalogue entry for St George's at Plymouth Records Office has this note ;
"There are gaps in the holdings for this church, as some of the registers were destroyed in 1941".
However it does not specify which registers were destroyed.

I am trying to locate the burial place of these two entries from the GRO Deaths index

Mary Jane Shipley - aged 30 - 1856 June Qtr East Stonehouse 5B  Page 188
William Edmonds  - aged 30 - 1857 March Qtr  East Stonehouse 5B  Page 212

Having searched all other possible burial registers in Plymouth for these years & not found them, my assumption is that they were buried at St George's, but I cannot discover if the burial ground had closed by this time.

Any information or idea's would be welcome.

Worcestershire / Powick Asylum Burials
« on: Saturday 06 July 19 14:20 BST (UK)  »
My 3x great grandmother Mary Hayes was admitted to Powick Asylum on November 18th 1885 and died there on November 28th. (Admission No. 4897).

Where is she likely to have been buried? Local knowledge needed as I am in Devon & don't know the Powick area.

I have read the catalogue of the Asylum records online but can't find any details of burial records.
According to the County Asylums website "An area of ground for pauper burials was also set aside adjacent to the farm."

Any help or idea's would be much appreciated.

Down / Belfast burial - John THOMPSON
« on: Tuesday 02 April 19 19:58 BST (UK)  »
The death notice for John Thompson, in the Belfast Newsletter of November 30th 1881 reads;

.......late officer of coastguards at Cultra. His remains will be removed to Holywood Burying-ground tomorrow (Thursday) morning at ten o'clock.......

1 Am I right in thinking that this is the Holywood Priory Cemetery? (Bangor Road/Priory Park)

2 Does anyone know if there is a headstone extant? (none found on Billiongraves of Findagrave)

3 Does anyone know where the burial records are kept & can I get access this burial entry?

Local help & knowledge needed as I am in England. Thank you.
