England / Grace Ellen Frederika Blandy/Hedges & Butler
« on: Sunday 11 February 24 17:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
At the Westminster archive in the Hedges & Butler archive are some papers from the administration of the estate of Grace Ellen Frederika Blandy
(d1918)
One of her trustees is listed as Capt.Mark Kerr.
The Blandy's were and are major wine producers in Madeira. Hedges & Butler were significant wine merchants in London. I wanted to see if there might have been a marital or financial link, basically a reason why the papers are in the archive.
Any help appreciated.
If I have posted in the wrong area please do let me know.

Family History Beginners Board / Stella Carnell(1917)/Nye/Dehoney
« on: Thursday 28 May 20 12:34 BST (UK)  »
I'm struggling to find any trace of Stella & her 2nd husband Joseph Dehoney .
She appears on the 1939 register with the following line blacked out. This was probably the entry for her daughter Beverley from her first marriage to Victor Nye.
After this I cannot seem to trace any of them at all.
I believe there is a possibility that they moved to Belfast possibly for Joseph to work at Shipbuilders Harland & Wolf but this is by no means certain.
Grateful for any pointers.

World War Two / Sudan Defence Force
« on: Monday 04 May 20 15:14 BST (UK)  »
My uncle Norman Mereweather joined the Royal Artillery in 1940, he was posted to the middle east in 1942 and at some point joined the Sudan Defence Force serving in Sudan & Eritrea.
I have some details of this period, is there any way I can find out more?
I have tried to attach a document which may help.

Wiltshire / Mereweather/Merryweather's from Sedgehill
« on: Saturday 29 February 20 10:05 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Segehill           Mereweathers/Merryweathers
I have a pretty good tree for my ancestors going back to John Meryweather (various spellings) (1773-1824) /George Mereweather (1795-1868)/Lot Merryweather(1824-1905)/Paul Merryweather(1851-1943)/William G Mereweather (1883-1973) who was my maternal grandfather.
Beyond William details are a bit sketchy, yes I have all the dates etc but little info on their lives.
I just wondered if any one might have any detail on any of them.
Lot's brother Mark had a son Frank who went to America and had a number of children, I am pretty sure there was an Australian link as well but haven't come across it yet.
Grateful for any help.

Europe / Germany William George Mereweather 1911-1913
« on: Wednesday 29 May 19 12:10 BST (UK)  »
Whilst seeking information about my maternal grandfather I have discovered that he was in Germany (possibly Cologne and/or Leipzig) from 1911-1913. He was a german speaker and was either teaching English full or part time. He may have also been studying at university probably philosophy during that period.
He subsequently wrote a novella which we think may have been partly autobiographical which suggests that he may have married a German wife in that period. Sadly no one in the family is around to ask now.
Does anyone know whether any records exist either of English residents or students at that time.
Grateful for any guidance. Thanks.
Bob
