Hi All,

I'm trying to decipher a street or house name on a passenger list from 1925 - my great uncle's fiancée travelled to meet him in Canada.

As luck would have it there's a big black line right through the one record I want - I wonder if anyone who knows the area, or is more proficient with photo editing software can decipher it. I tried creating a negative but that didn't help me either.

My guess is it reads:
Father - James Todd
xxxxxxhill
Bishopbriggs

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

John

Hello all,

Can anyone decipher the street name of this address please? For reference I am pretty sure the rest of it reads:

Mary Erskine Strang

1879
September Thirteenth
xxxxxxxxx
Crossmyloof
Parish of Cathcart

John Strang
Grocer
Maria Lamont Strang
MS Millar
1876 February 15th
Maryhill

I wonder if the xxxxx part is "something hill"? I have looked at maps but I'm none the wiser. So if anyone has any thoughts please let me know - many thanks in advance!

Regards
John

Australia / Descendants of Janet MacLean (née Jamieson) to Adelaide?
« on: Friday 21 June 19 13:41 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

I am looking for any information on descendants of my grandmother Janet MacLean (née Jamieson) from Kilmarnock, Ayrshire - she died in 1935 but I believe she had a daughter who emigrated to Adelaide in the 1950's.

I'm sorry I can't be more specific, but any thoughts would be welcome.

Many thanks in advance

Hi everyone,

I've recently started researching my family tree, the Strang family from around Clydebank. I can go back to my great grandfather (John Strang, died 1909) via my grandfather (Septimus Millar Strang (1889-1962) and my father Robert Millar Strang (1923-1974).

I have a question regarding one of my grandfather's brothers William Alexander Strang born 1878. He appears in the 1881 census aged 3, then again in the 1901 census aged 23 (but at a different address) - however I can't see hin in the 1891 census.

All the above are found via https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/

I will keep looking!

If anyone else is looking in to Strang family members I'd be happy to pass on my findings.

Regards,
John Strang
