Flintshire / Thomas F Watkins
« on: Friday 24 March 23 01:55 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I have the marriage for Thomas F Watkins to Nora Ibbotson in 1942. They had a son in 1945 registered June Quarter.

I don't have the certificate of the marriage as yet.

Thomas F Watkins was born about Jul 1918 in St Asaph, Flintshire  (or Denbighshire) North Wales. (found on Ancestry) Pontypridd, Glamorgan mothers maiden name is Jones...

I'm looking for Thomas' parents.

I found a possible grave for Thomas and Nora's son, however there are other people on another headstone in the same plot. I am not sure if they are the grandparents or parents... (which would mean I have the wrong son) If they do happen to be his parents, they were quite old parents.

Their names were Samuel Francis Watkins b. 1891 and died 1970 and Jane Elizabeth Jones who died in 1958... Apparently they married in 1919.  The son I mention was born in 1945 which is the same on the grave... this one died in 2008 aged 62... I can't find another person to match my first couple Thomas & Nora, which is why I'm trying to find out who his parents are. I can't find him on the 1921 census either...

I haven't mentioned the sons name just in case he isn't dead and in the grave I found.

Thanks for any help anyone can give and I hope i've not confused people.

Other Countries / Enrique Plaisted married Emilianna Alverez Phillippeans
« on: Sunday 13 November 22 01:44 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I'm looking for Philippine records and have been told many were destroyed in the last war and only go back to 1922.

Enrique Plaisted was born in 1903 to Arthur or Artuos Plaisted & Solodad Minevera. He married in 1929. On ancestry, there is a claim on his war pension. Gerencia Granada De Minerva

I am trying to work out who they are, if they are still alive and if it is possible to find relatives. Enrique's father was a much-loved brother so and fought in the war in the Philippines for the US.

Any ways to research or find info would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Rotosis.

I was wondering if anyone was able to make this photograph look a bit better than it does. The photo is 300dpi and a png which I hope will help with clarity.

Thank you

I'm looking for information on the above lady who married Arthur Kendell Plaisted in the early 1900s in the Philippines.

They had a son called Enrique Plaisted in 1903, Kabankalan, Negros Occidental, Philippines.

I have no idea who to ask or where to do. I can't find anything else on Ancestry or Family Search. I do have another name who may be Enrique's wife and possible daughter/granddaughter though not sure who may still be alive. Enrique married in 1929.

Thanks for any help...

« on: Friday 07 April 17 03:52 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I did look in the resources, however two of the links i clicked on went to advertising sites the other hasn't yet got 1911 uploaded, so i thought i would ask here.

I am looking for Benjamin Plaisted's death.  I think the notice i sort of found is on 28th November 1911 on page 3.  I can't afford to pay for subs on the site i found it on and I haven't been albe to narrow it down on the Fulton Postcards site either.

Any help with this would be welcome.

Thanks

Hi

Could anyone advise me on if there were any chimney sweeps in Oxford in the 1830s.  I have looked through Pigots Directory (1830) and can't see any.

Thanks for any help :)

The Lighter Side / Short Historical Accounts Wanted
« on: Thursday 21 January 16 07:29 GMT (UK)  »
Hello.

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in writing short articles about the life and times between 1778 - 1840.  Be it fashion, architecture, gardens, famous people, life style, laws, reforms migration, steam, carriages, toll roads etc.  I am wanting articles for a blog I have under my pen name to show people what life was really like in those days.

Please PM if you are interested.

Thanks :D

Berkshire / The Bacon Arms, Newbury.
« on: Sunday 23 February 14 01:11 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I am looking for information about the Bacon Arms in Newbury.  The only history i can find so far is who it was named after.

The information is for a novel i am writing and i wanted to get a good idea of what the place was like.  Google so far has only come up with how to book a room etc rather than any history.

Thanks for any help offered.
