Ireland / Tanner Family From Ireland

I am trying to find my Irish link to my Tanner Family. Henry Tanner, Possibly William Henry, was born in Ireland about 1770 and went to the USA where he married Bridget Brannon or Brannan, also born in Ireland anout 1773. They had a son, Gilman Tanner about 1790 in Maine, USA.
I havn't been able to find any more.
I need to find a place to start in Ireland. (Henry was said to be a sailor.)
Any help would be great.
