Perthshire / William McLaren

Hi I am new on this group. I am trying to trace a William McLaren that would have been born around 1845 (give or take 10 years) in the Perth area although I do not know that for sure. All I have is a picture to go by so I am hoping someone has seen the attached pic and can give me some information on the gentleman (my great great grandfather)

I have attached a picture of a gentleman who I believe is William McLaren. My grandfather was born illegitimate to Jane Kennedy in Stanley, Perth in 1877 and I believe William is possibly the father. Has anyone seen this picture before? My guess is William was born about 1851. Jane was born in Redgorton, Perth in 1854. Trying to find the father of an illegitimate child is somewhat challenging and I am hoping someone has seen this photo and can positively identify the gentleman and perhaps give some info regarding his birth etc.
