Hi All

I am starting to learn photo restoration and coloring, at least I am trying to learn it.  I find that my mouse is much too clumsy and was wondering if I should buy a Graphic Tablet.

The one that I am thinking of buying is the Wacom Bamboo Fun.  Have any of you any experience with this particular product.  I would also like to know if I should buy the small one or the medium one.  I really don't have a great deal of space on my desk.   I would also like to know that if I get the graphic tablet, do I have to disconnect my current mouse.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Everybody,

I am finally starting to do colorization of my old family photos.   I have done two so far and know that I have a long way to go if I want to be only half as good as the talented people on this forum.
One of the main problems that I am having is How to do eyes?  ??? For my first two photos, eyes weren't that important.  I just kept the transparency down and they don't look too bad.  I know that I can't get away with this tactic when the focus is more on faces.
I am using Paint Shop Pro X2 and would be grateful for any help on this matter.

Thanks

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Need Scan advice for my new all-in-one
« on: Thursday 16 October 08 00:17 BST (UK)  »
Hi Everyone

I am technologically challenged and would like to ask you for some advice.
My husband bought me an Epson Artisan 800 as an early birthday present. ;D
This new all-in-one has a max resolution scan of 9600 x 9600. Optical Scan of 4800.
I have PaintShopProX1.  I noticed that they have a scan range of 50 to 1200. Should I set the scan range to 1200?  I want the highest resolution that I can get.
On another subject PaintShopProX1 stores photos in JPEG format. I am not happy with that format. Could any of the people who have Adobe Elements tell me if that program stores their photos in TIF?

I would appreciate any advice that I can get.

Cheers

Perthshire / Perthshire Death Records
« on: Monday 08 September 08 21:10 BST (UK)  »
Are there any pre 1855 Death Records for Monzievaird available? And if there are, where can I get them.  I have ancestors who lived in the Monzievaird & Strowan area in the 18th century and early 19th century.

Stirlingshire / Is there any other way to check for burials
« on: Tuesday 04 March 08 20:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I have two books, Other Stirlingshire Burials Pre 1855, and West Stirlingshire Monumental Inscriptions Pre 1855.  Despite having many relatives who lived in Stirlingshire, so far I have found none of them in these two books. ???

I find this very frustrating and wonder if there are any others sources of Pre 1855 Burials, that I am unaware of.
One of my frustrations is of one of my ancestors, William Kay/Key born in Monievaird, Perth, circa 1770. He was married to Margaret Watson.  They had a number of children, all in Denny, from about 1800 to 1818.  He is listed on the 1851 census in Denny, as 81 years old, and since he is not on the 1861 census and I cannot find him in Statutory records, I assume that he died between 1851 and 1855. I wish that he had the consideration to hang on for a few more years. >:(

Is there anything that I am missing?

Regards

Technical Help / Question on Printers
« on: Wednesday 21 November 07 23:23 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All

I have been using an Epson RX600 for the last 3 years or so.  I have been pleased with its performance, except for the amount of ink it uses, but I have learned that the photo prints will only last about 10 years.
Epson has come out with two new all-in-ones in the last few months.  The RX595 and the RX680.  Epson advertises that the photo prints from these machines will last 200 years under the proper conditions.  I am thinking of buying one of them but can't find any independent reviews on them.  Has anyone on this board got one of them?

Thanks

I am trying again.  I renamed the photo and here is hoping that it will appear.  It is in JPEG format.

Hi Everyone

I have a few photos I need help with, this one is my mother in an old photo from around 1930.  It was very faded when I found it, and I used a pencil around the eyes to bring them out.

FH Documents and Artefacts / Please Help-Longevity of Ink Jet Photos
« on: Tuesday 20 February 07 21:48 GMT (UK)  »
I was wondering if anyone knew how long an ink jet photo will last.  I have heard that they will only last from 2 to 10 years.  I want my photos to last much longer than that.

I have an Epson Stylus RX600 all in one printer.  The photos that are printed out on it are good, but I don't know how long they will last.  I would like them to last for at least as long as they would last from a commercial printer.

I have tried getting information on the internet, but so far I haven't been successful in getting anything specific.

Does anyone have any information on this subject?

Thanks

Maple
