Mayo / Ford family, left Westport Co Mayo abt 1847
« on: Thursday 25 July 13 20:21 BST (UK)  »
Hello, I have just found out that my Ford Family left Ireland around 1847, well my 3 x Gt Grandfather Ulick Ford 1803 - 1883, wife Catherine 1800-1882 (no maiden name known), son Patrick 1820-1852, daughter Mary 1828-1895 arrived in New York aboard the 'Finland' 25 March 1847, then moving on to Dixon in Illinois. I have quite quite bit of info on the family that moved to America, thanks to a wonderful man in Dixon at the heritage center there, However, another son, my 2x Gt Grandfather Richard Ford 1823-1882 went to England, Bradford in Yorkshire where he married Ellen O'Donnell, (also from Ireland) 1833-1891 at the catholic chapel in Bradford Yorks. I do not know why he didn't go with them to America, any suggestions would be gratefully received...
As all the early census records in Ireland have been destroyed is there any way I can find out any information about this family?

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Kellet - missing from 1911 census
« on: Thursday 25 July 13 14:45 BST (UK)  »
Hello, how likely is it that a family would be missing from the 1911 census? I have Ancestry and FindMyPast neither of which have my family listed. The mother Annie Kellet 1868-1914, nee Ford, is in the workhouse hospital in Horton, listed as lunatic. I know that 3 of the children were living with their father, Edward Kellett 1868-1915 (my Grandmother Mary Kellett 1902-1969 and the other 2 children Clara 1898-1934 and Richard 1906-1986) as my aunt gave me this information.
I know Edward must have been under a lot of strain with no wife and 3 children to look after, so maybe he didn't fill in the form, is that very likely?
There is another child, Ellen 1894 - 1970 but she is living with an Aunt.

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Aquilla Pollard 1846-?
« on: Thursday 25 July 13 12:45 BST (UK)  »
Hello, I have been researching my family tree for many, many years but one of the brick walls is the death of my 2x Gt Grandfather, Aquilla (various spellings from different records) Pollard, born 2 June 1846, Victoria Street, Silsbridge Lane, Bradford. I have him on all the census, 1851, 1861, 1871, his marriage to Selina Marshall in 1873, even his trial in Dec 1868 (where he was acquitted) the last record I can find of him is 7 April 1877 where he was present at his Mothers death (Mary Ackroyd) 10 Westend Lane, Bradford.
He had 3 children only 1(my Gt Grandfather Richard Pollard) survived to adulthood, Richard was living with an aunt on the 1881 census, so I am assuming that Aquilla died, left? sometime after 1877, any advice would be most welcome.

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / coroners records, Bradford
« on: Saturday 19 January 13 17:57 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Hope this isn't too much but i'm trying to find out more information about the death of my gt grandmother Annie Kellett, b 1868 in Bradford to Richard Ford and Ellen O'Donnell, she married Edward Kellett in 1892, they had 4 children Ellen Ann, Clara, Mary and Richard. She died 9th May 1914 in the workhouse, Horton from paralysis of the insane and broncho pneumonia, the inquest was held 12th May 1914 by the coroner of Bradford city, I know coroners records are scarce and I'm not sure if a newspaper would carry this as she died in the workhouse,
I found Ellen ann Kellett in the 1911 census living with an aunt in Hall lane Bradford, but the rest of the Kellets are nowhere to be found in 1911.
If anyone could have a look at the newspapers I would be very grateful
Thanks
Jo
