Hello all, My great great grandfather - Louis Klyen - was born in Germany around 1830 and at some point moved to London before 1861. On the UK 1861 census he is married to Eliza Hearn and living in Fleet Lane, London with one child (4 years old). He was a tailor. I don't think he was Jewish. Apart from this information I know almost nothing prior to the census info. Klyen is a rare name but seems common-ish around the German / Swedish border? De Klyen is a common Dutch name. There are also records of Russian and Ukrainian Klyens the earliest being in the 15 and16 hundreds. I'm a member of Ancestry.com but have pretty much emptied their info banks so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of where I could go from here? I need to somehow connect Louis with Germany and find my earlier ancestors.
Thanks in advance!
