Cumberland / Children of John Bell & Hannah Cousin of Alston / Nenthead
« on: Tuesday 18 January 22 00:17 GMT (UK)  »
Hi. Looking for assistance please in tracking some of the children of John Bell (b1796) and Hannah Cousin (b1798).
In the 1841C the family are at Stainton, Dacre (near Penrith) with six sons William, Thomas, John, George, Matthew and Joseph.  Older daughter Mary has yet to be tracked in the 1841C but reappears in 1851C.

- There is a daughter Hannah b 8 March 1828 Nenthead CUL, Christened 25 Dec 1828 Primitive Methodist Church. She is not with the family in the 1841C when they are found at Stainton, Dacre so presume she might have died?
-  John (b 6 Jan 1826, Christened 19 Sept 1826 Redwing Congregational Church) can not be found after 1841C. Looking for him?
- George is a Grocers Apprentice in Penrith in 1851C but then disappears.
(Joseph dies in 1842, Matthew dies in 1855; the three eldest William, Mary and Thomas all marry)

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated please.
Regards
Warwick.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Edward Harrison, son of William Wood
« on: Saturday 15 May 21 08:46 BST (UK)  »
Hi. Looking for help please in regard to Edward Harrison b circa 1830.
Edward married Ellen Harrison b 2Dec 1832 (eldest child of William Harrison and Anne Williams) in West Derby in 1854. On the marriage certificate Edward's father is noted as William Woods, Painter.  That suggests his mothers maiden or married surname is Harrison.

Yet to locate Edward in 1841C and 1851C. There are a few options. Most likely I thought from both census's he was related to Thomas b1796 Joiner & Mary b 1796 Harrison living Kensington Street 1851. The name of Edward's first child strengthened that case however I disproved this as the two children of this couple are both christened in St Peters is 1831 and 1833 to Thomas and Mary.

1861 England Census records Edward at 20 Mop? St Everton (St George Ecclesiastical District) with wife Ellen, and children Thomas, Hannah, E(dith?) Jane and Richard. Occupation "labourer docks".

Have had little success in also identifying William Wood. There are only two William Woods who are painters in Lancaster in 1841C if he was still alive. Both are aged 30 and live in Walton on the Hill, Everton, Liverpool, one with mother and siblings, other with father and brother.

I'm keen to find please Edward's baptism and hopefully through that identify his mother. Identifying more details of his father would be great to.
Any assistance please much appreciated.

Angus (Forfarshire) / James Barron m E Laird 28 August 1860
« on: Monday 18 June 18 10:43 BST (UK)  »
Hi. I am doing some research on this couple who I think moved to London shortly afterwards.

James Barron and wife Eliza eldest daughter Isabella is 19 in 1881 census meaning she was born in 1862 (Southwark, Surrey). In that census both James and Eliza are born in Scotland, he in 1830 and she in 1833. James was a carpenter / joiner.
On Isabella's marriage certificate her middle name is Laird suggesting possible maiden name of mother.
Therefore keen to find our any further details of the wedding listed for James Barron m E. Laird on 28th August 1860.
Looking forward to any replies.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Edward Harrison (Woods) b ca 1830 Liverpool
« on: Monday 16 April 18 03:03 BST (UK)  »
Hi.
Looking for assistance please with finding the birth of Edward Harrison in Liverpool circa 1830.
Edward marries Ellen Harrison (same surname) 12th Feb 1854 in Church of St John the Baptist. Her father is William Harrison, labourer and we know details of that family.  However Edwards father is recorded as William Woods, painter. That suggests he was born out of wedlock and his mother was a Harrison or alternatively he took his step-fathers surname.
His witness on the marriage record is a Robert Harrison though that may be Ellen's brother Robert who was the next sibling in her family.

I can not find him yet in 1841C or 1851C.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Essex Lookup Requests / Ritter in the greater Braintree area
« on: Wednesday 13 September 17 21:49 BST (UK)  »
Hi All
Hannah Ritter Laver is b 1789 as eldest child of Robert Laver (1762) of Braintree and Hannah Fairhead of Bocking.
While I have possibly tracked Hannah Fairhead (b c 1759) back three generations the use of  'Ritter' as Hannah's (1789) middle name is a puzzle (it does not appear)  so I  can not discount the tracking is wrong. Ritter could reference Hannah Fairheads mothers maiden name or grandmothers maiden name. (It could also reference Robert's paternal grandmother Elizabeth's maiden name which is still unknown).

The only Ritter's I have found reference to in the Braintree area so far are on Ancestry being a William Ritter bapt 27 July 1656, son of John Ritter in Bradwell (not sure which one) (film no 001471933). As it happens the Fairheads also track back to Bradwell-juxta-Coggeshall.
SEAX does not have Bradwell baptisms prior to 1704.
So interested please in any Ritter's located in Bradwell prior to 1704 or others in vicinity particularly any Hannah Ritter's that might link to a Fairhead (Hannah Fairhead's mother would be born circa 1720-1730 and a grandmother circa 1700).
Thank you for any assistance.

Essex Lookup Requests / Robert Laver & Hannah Fairhead
« on: Wednesday 23 August 17 07:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Robert Laver m Hannah Fairhead 10 March 1789 at St Michael Archangel in Braintree. Hannah is from the neighbouring Parish in Bocking.

Robert is probably the Robert Laver b Aug 24th, bapt Sept 29th 1762 to Robert (snr) and Henrietta in the same Parish.  This couple don't appear to have any other children unless I've missed them.

I have a couple of potential requests for assistance please:

I have identified that there are in the immediate years prior to 1762 several children born to a Robert  and Sarah Laver : Elizabeth in 1760; Elizabeth in 1759, Henry in 1755 and also Henry in 1754. I haven't managed to check the burials and wondered if Sarah died and Robert remarried or are there two Roberts. (There don't appear to be too many Lavers in the Parish)?

The marriage of Robert & Henrietta is not in this parish - has anyone spotted a marriage in a neighbouring parish?
What are the most likely neighbouring parish's to search?

Finally I can't locate a birth for Hannah Fairhead in Bocking. Has anyone spotted a birth in a neighbouring parish. Also on Ancestry there are a number of family trees referring to Hannah Fairchild. I'm presuming this is a mistake.

Any assistance please would be greatly received.

Essex Lookup Requests / Isaac Andrews marriages Braintree 1769
« on: Monday 14 August 17 03:09 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Looking for assistance to verify research done by others.
I have in my tree that an Isaac Andrews m Sarah Brentnall on 13 Sept 1769 at St Michael of Archangel, Braintree.

On Ancestry there is then another family tree listing claiming the same Isaac Andrews marries Sarah Linnett on 19 Sept 1769 in Braintree. It is unsourced.

I would be keen to please shed some light on this and establish which listing may be correct.
