Hi

I'm looking at Baptisms in St Peters, Liverpool in the year 1829.

Theres an Elizabeth Warton - Parents Isaac & Elizabeth Freeman
John Barlow - Parents John & Mary Clare
John Davies - Parents John & Margaret Brereton
Thomas Blakey - Parents John & Mary Vernon

And many others with different last names to the parents on the same page. I've never seen this before.

I wouldn't have thought so many of these are middle names. Were these children adopted or fostered or where the named 'parents' guardians or even god parents.

Looking forward to hearing some insight.

Thanks

Beverley

Hi

Trying to find mother of my 4th Great Grandmother Susannah Tatlock (baptised Susey) born in Dale St Liverpool 13/04/1778 to an Edward Tatlock Labourer.

Looks like there were 2 Edward Tatlocks in the area (maybe more) but there is one at Dale St and another at Cunliffe St and they had kids at the same time, no mother on baptism records.

Everyone has Barbara Atherton on their tree but research into Barbara makes me think it isn't.

Barbara & Edward Tatlock rented a farm in Altcar in 1781 on a lease of 3 lives incl a Margaret Tatlock aged 8. Susannah would have been 6 so would have made sense to name her as was youngest at the time.

Also when Barbara died intestate in 1811 her probate record names a Mary Tatlock (b 1790), William Tatlock (b 1785) and a Richard Spring who was Margaret Tatlocks husband. Surely unless disowned or something Susannah would have been part of it??

Noting that ALL family business was done in Liverpool, Susannah ended up in Leigh Lancashire pregnant with an illegitimate child in 1798 and wasnt removed from the parish so had settlement rights which makes me think she probably settled there as a chid or teenager with the correct Edward Tatlock and mother.

Hope anyone can help driving me crazy.

Thanks

Beverley
