Yorkshire (North Riding) / Cleveland ironstone Miners X-post

Cleveland ironstone Miners:

Do you have any in your tree? I do - g grandfather died in the Lumpsey mine in 1910, having migrated to the Cleveland Gold Rush in the 1870s, before he was 20, with most of his Cornish tin-miner family.

There is a campaign, running out of time, to buy a little bit of Cleveland history here:

I think it is important to save a bit of history, so do take a look.

One Name Studies: T to Z / WESTED anytime, anywhere, please

If anyone ever comes across WESTED or De WESTED, please contact me.

Not Westhead, which is a northern name.

There is a small hamlet called Wested in Kent, and I have a Roger de Wested reference from 1200s in NAs.

Kent Completed Lookup Requests / TERRY baptisms , WYE lookup please

Mary Ann TERRY b around 1820, to Thomas and Mary.

In  1851 I have Mary Ann as a niece to John and Charlotte QUESTED,  HO107/1543/489/14

We suspect she is the daughter of Thomas TERRY and Mary QUESTED, m 14 Jun 1810, Kent (IGI)

There is Mary Ann TERRY on IGI christened 20 Oct 1819 Wye, Kent to Thomas and Mary TERRY.

But PROVING this would knock down a big brick wall. Also, if anyone has access to Wye Baptisms, any other children born to Thomas and Mary would be great.

We really need to show Mary was nee QUESTED, to be sure.

Technical Help / Windows update 23/24 October, you need it!
« on: Friday 24 October 08 19:34 BST (UK)  »
There was an out of normal windows update last night to address a serious problem if you are using XP.

If you turned off updates, you might want to turn them on again as this is potentially serious.

It mainly seems to affect networks, but better safe etc?

IMHO it is always better to fully update Windows machines!
