Renfrewshire / Bouverie Street, Port Glasgow
« on: Tuesday 09 September 08 23:08 BST (UK)  »
Please could someone help me out. I have a relatives naval discharge papers and they state that his address was:-
c/o Mrs. Patten, 69 Bouverie St, Port Glasgow. My relative joined the Royal Navy in May 1913 at the age of 19 years, however - I have been searching for info about him for a long time (possibly in the wrong places). The records state that his father was John Wilson, Coleraine, Co. Derry, N. Ireland.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Shropshire Lookup Requests / Bridgnorth lookup please
« on: Tuesday 09 September 08 22:41 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone, I am looking for information about George Wilson. Please could someone check the BMD or census records for me. I would be most grateful.

George Wilson born 1881 Bridgnorth Shropshire.
Was in the Royal Marine Light Infantry H.M.S. Carysfort. Died 13 December 1917.
I have some conflicting information about him. He could have been born in N. Ireland in 1894.
I really need to find out the names of his parents to be sure the information I have is correct.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Angela

Please could someone explain to me what the following means:

Service Certificate sent to Crystal Palace (1915) - is there some significance with C.Palace?
W.G. Certificate to A.G. 9b
What is a W.G. certificate, and is it possible to get hold of copies of these certificates?

Many thanks.

Canada Lookup Request / Toronto marriage Wilson/Johnstone
« on: Wednesday 27 August 08 19:11 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I am trying to find information about the Wilsons of Toronto. I believe the father of the bride to be the missing link in my family tree. I really dont know where to look for information as I have no dates for this marriage. All I know is that the marriage was reported in a newspaper and my grandmother had an old faded copy of this in the back of a photo album. My guess at dates is somewhere between 1920 and 1950. Not much help I know. I have attached a copy of the newspaper clipping. Any help on the Wilsons or anyone else mentioned  would be appreciated.

Derry (Londonderry) / Wilson/McNeill - Coleraine
« on: Thursday 21 August 08 21:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone - I'm new to this, so hope I've posted in the right place. Looking for information about the Wilsons. My g.grandfather was John Wilson born c.1864 (deduced from marriage cert. - states he was full age). He married Elizabeth (Lizzie) McNeill on 23 March 1889 at Terrace Row Third Presbyterian Church, Coleraine. It states on the certificate that he was a widower and that his fathers name was Alex. I would like to find out how many children they had. I know for sure they had 3 boys - Danny,David (my grandad) and Robert, but there has always been talk in the family of another child who was sent away to Canada. My mother said it was all hushed up and no-one ever talked about it. Now could this other child have been from John Wilsons first marriage or is he just a rumour. Any help with the Wilsons or McNeills would be greatly appreciated.
