The Common Room / Census Anomalies
« on: Monday 24 November 08 21:05 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

I've been doing a little research for a friend and I have a bit of an Headache ???

I know the Enumeration Sheets were sent out a few days before each census, to be filled in on the night required but my search for Mary J. Brocklehurst/Brockhurst in Radcliffe Lancashire 1901 shows two, not that uncommon I hear you say BUT the connecting names for my Brocklehurst are Davidson and Summerfield. On one result both Davidson and Summerfield appear on the other only Summerfield appears. The latter result points to Mary J's previous name as Davidson...........headache yet? :P  ;)

Now the BIG BIG question.............
What is the chance of the same person appearing on the same Census twice? :o

Cheers

Lancashire / Thomas Craig....Manchester.
« on: Monday 25 February 08 22:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All,

I have a Thomas Craig b c1830 Manchester and his wife Martha b c1832 Knutsford Cheshire in my tree. I've located them on the 1861 census, then Martha plus daughter Priscilla on the 1871 census but for the life of me I seem to be unable to locate their marriage cert or Priscilla's birth cert. I even had a little clue to Thomas's family on the 1871 census due to Martha and Priscilla staying with Thomas's brother William (although Martha was listed as 'Wife').

Does anybody out there recognise any of these names????

Ireland / Plumbley Marriage
« on: Saturday 27 May 06 19:39 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,

According to the England 1861 Census my 3 x Gt Grandfather Thomas Plumbley b c1802 Manchester, had married a woman called Margaret b c1831 who was from Ireland, their son Thomas b c1857 Ireland is also shown on the census.

Can anybody point me in the right direction as to find a record of their marriage and Thomas' birth.

Regards
