The Common Room / Census Anomalies

Hi all,
I've been doing a little research for a friend and I have a bit of an Headache
I know the Enumeration Sheets were sent out a few days before each census, to be filled in on the night required but my search for Mary J. Brocklehurst/Brockhurst in Radcliffe Lancashire 1901 shows two, not that uncommon I hear you say BUT the connecting names for my Brocklehurst are Davidson and Summerfield. On one result both Davidson and Summerfield appear on the other only Summerfield appears. The latter result points to Mary J's previous name as Davidson...........headache yet?
Now the BIG BIG question.............
What is the chance of the same person appearing on the same Census twice?
Cheers
