Travelling People / help thorpe gray buttriss
« on: Sunday 25 January 09 22:42 GMT (UK)  »
hi folks
i am in need of help am very confused.

i am a descendant of anbrose thorpe/buttriss
i always believed he was a thorpe but have found he was baptised as buttriss his mother being eliza who married james thorpe . so is he james thorpe son or is he a child for a dif relationship and all the thorpe chldren are only his half siblings . in the 1881 census he even changed his name to adolphus buttriss .
in a letter ambrose wrote to a rev hall he stated he had a sister silvester who married a bob gray i am in touch with several people doing the thorpe tree and none of us have a silvester in our trees but recently i found a silvester buttriss for same area in cambs so maybe this is his sister also in the letter he wrote he says he has a brother jim who married a sarah sly .. but i have a brother james married to a eliza travelling with a circus with various children. i havent really started the gray side of my family but believe james thorpe is a descendant of a foulk gray can anyone out there please help fill in the blanks for me
ps i know he is linked to the grats as he has been in the court pages with his brother in laws robert and william gray and i wondered if this was the silvester link also .. hope i am making sense lol

thanks a much confused donna
