Yorkshire (West Riding) / Non Conformist Baptism
« on: Friday 10 August 18 13:54 BST (UK)  »
Good afternoon all

I have just discovered my ancestor could not have been baptised in his local church/chapel as there wasn't one until approx. 10 years after he was born.  However, non-conformists were able to worship at "Old Dolphin" at Clayton from 1807 but I don't know if baptisms were allowed.

Therefore does anyone know if the records from circa 1820 to 1824 are available online for Birstall and Shelf please?

I am looking for Jarvis Jagger (sometimes noted as Gerves/Garves and Jaggar/Jaggars/Jaggers) born circa 1822.  The family lived at Clayton but as there was nowhere to worship, apart from "Old Dolphin", and people would travel as far away as Birstall and Shelf.

TIA

« on: Friday 15 June 18 17:23 BST (UK)  »
Good afternoon everyone

I wondered if anyone knows if the parish Marriage records for Thakeham, parish records are available online?  I have a civil registration of a marriage of Thomas Golds to Margaret Weston in the December quarter of 1929 but I'm having trouble getting the birth of Thomas.  Margaret hasn't been at all problematical!

Many thanks in anticipation

Good morning all  :)

Census records record the birthplace being as Abertillery which, I believe, is in Monmouthshire under the Registration of Bedwellty - feel free to correct me  ;D

I'm looking for Sarah Price whose birth was registered in the June quarter of 1876 or trying to find her on the 1881 Census.

Would anyone be able to help me out please?

Would anyone be able to hazard a guess at what this man's occupation was?

He was aged 45 in the 1841 Census and living in a rural location.

There is one other the same on the page with a couple more just the initials F S

Lanarkshire / Birth Certificates
« on: Saturday 17 June 17 23:10 BST (UK)  »
Good evening all

I have found a birth certificate which I am 99.9% confident is correct.  Can anyone tell me if the birth certificate includes the mother's maiden name?

The reason I ask is I have found the parents marriage but there are three entries, all on the same page, with the same (correct) details for the groom but the bride has three different surnames but the right first name????

If I order the BC and the mother's name is there I will know which marriage entry is correct.

What do you think?

TIA

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Morning all

Looking for the marriage of Henry Jagger in the March quarter of 1878 in the Halifax Registration District.

He either married Harriet Whiteley or Emma Singleton.

Does anyone have access to, say, a parish record?  I've tried finding all combinations for the 1881 Census but to no avail  :-\

Lanarkshire / Statutory Register Entry - 1962
« on: Tuesday 31 December 13 03:42 GMT (UK)  »
Good morning, Seasons Greetings to all and best wishes for the New Year!  :)

Searching on the Scotlands People website I have found the following entry:

No   Year   Surname   Forename   Sex
   District   City/County/MR   GROSData   Image   Extract
1   1962     ****            ******            F
SERVICE RETURNS   /             ******            No Image

As you can see under the District and City/County/MR headings it states "Service Returns."

Can anyone tell me what this means - I believe the child was born in the Glasgow area.

Many thanks

Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Peopleton, Worcestershire - Parish Records Look-Up
« on: Thursday 22 August 13 08:46 BST (UK)  »
Good morning  :)

I'm wondering if anyone has access to the Parish Records for Peopleton in Worcestershire for births and marriages.

According to the IGI, Elizabeth CartWEIGHT married John Checketts circa 1724.  What I'd like clarity on is the surname.  Is it CartWEIGHT or CartWRIGHT?  I'm hedging my bets on mis-transcription, but you never know.

According to the IGI Elizabeth was born circa 1700 in Peopleton.

TIA
