Suffolk / Missing birth record Samuel Burrows Woodbridge around 1831
« on: Tuesday 15 December 20 11:53 GMT (UK)  »
I am at a loose end again...I know that my great grandfather was Samuel Burrows born Woodbridge/Sibton around 1831.His parents were James (Jas) Wolton Burrows and Matilda nee Woolnough
I have their marriage as 1824 - their first son was James 1825 Woodbridge St.Mary - then Samuel (1826-1828) - then Richard - b.Sibton -1827 - then Joshua b.Sibton 1831
I have an 1841 census listing at Friest Farm ,Dallinghoo which has Matilda , James 16 ,Samuel 14, Richard ,12 & Joshua 10
1851 has Samuel at Burgh (born Sibton and aged 19)
I have his listings from 1861 & 1871 (in Wales and married to Sarah) 1881 and 1891
All the listings mention Woodbridge so he's the man but I cannot nail down a birth record for him
around that time..I have tried FindMyPast ,Family search and Ancestry but to no avail - mention of the infant and death but not of an 1831 or 1832 arrival
Thanks for any help..

Herefordshire / Maysie M Meredith
« on: Saturday 28 November 20 12:44 GMT (UK)  »
Greetings, all...I need help looking for Maysie M Meredith daughter of Joseph and Mary Elizabeth Matilda .She was born Grosmont,Monmouthshire in 1882 and shows up in the 1891 census living in Holmer.
The family are still there in 1901 but ,not surprisingly,Maysie is absent (possibly out in service somewhere being aged 19 by then) I believe Maysie to be another version of Margaret but I can't find her anywhere. The 1911 census shows 6 children born and 5 still living so I assume it's Maysie that's gone...sorry to ask this of you but I really am struggling!

Good afternoon , In a box of 'stuff' we found a order of service for William Ernest May of Muswell Hill KIA 24th.November 1916 1/22nd London Regiment (The Queens)
Having lost relatives in the 1914/18 war,I know how comforting it is to find a photo or such like.
If anyone related to William May would like this item (as long as they're connected)they are very welcome to it...please donate postal costs to the British Legion.Just a shame it's here when it could be somewhere where it's appreciated.

« on: Tuesday 14 January 20 07:17 GMT (UK)  »
Mornin’ all…I have found a City of London Police reserve badge. It would be lovely to reunite it with any descendants. Any idea how to track the owner.
Apologies if it's on the wrong page but I couldn't find a police one.
The number on the back is 1285
It might shed some light on how it ended up in our shed !
Thanks in advance

Herefordshire / Maysie's missing !
« on: Tuesday 31 March 15 13:23 BST (UK)  »
I'm hoping that someone can help ,please. My Dad's Auntie Mary Meredith nee Burrows born Garway 1860 (married to Joseph b.Skenfrith 1850's) had a daughter called Maysie M born Grosmont Herefordshire ~1882-so says the 1891 Census anyway
I've been trying to find her birth and death (and indeed anything in between) as she disappears off of the map after 1891.I can't find a marriage or a death for her.
What is Maysie short for or what is it derived from?
Many thanks

Gloucestershire / Adoption help please-Sunnyside Maternity Hospital Cheltenham
« on: Tuesday 27 January 15 13:20 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to help a friend find his birth Mum.Firstly,I apologise for being so vague. This is all we have to go on. David was born June 1951 at the Sunnyside Maternity Hospital Cheltenham. His birth mother was a removed and all that Davids' adoptive Mum could tell him about her was that she was young and from 'oop north. She worked as a chemists assistant in the Pittville Circus Road in the town.
By young,I would assume around her late teens so that's a birth year of around 1933...any help would be greatly appreciated...any budding 'Sherlocks' out there?
Many thanks
